• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I want to run unswitched power for my gps on my RS. I have looked all over the forum but cannot find a picture. Where is the connection for unswitched power located? What panels do I need to remove to get to it. Any pics would be a great help! Thanks!!

I don't know that there is one up front. MAYBE the front aux (I don't have the schematic here). I ran my own from the back fuse block, under the seat. I tapped a 30A line being REALLY careful to thuroughly insulatre the tap. I brought htat line to the front and then into my own fuse block. That line is on all the time. I do have most all items connected to that block switched via a relay and switch just for protection. I power my GPS/iPhone from that line.

You can be pretty sure that most any power work will require removing all of the panels on one side and quite possibly both sides. Mine is an RT, but you my find some help here-- http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24907

I just finished doing what you want to do. So as not to interfere with the computers on my 2008 SE5 RS I ran a new #12 line directly from the positive side on the battery to the front of the Spyder. Under the seat I installed a 30A fuse. The new line went to, under, the panel under the windshield, on the right side where I installed two common fuse holders. One is for my electronic mirror and the other is for a 12V outlet in the center of my Helibar. I needed a good ground and that came from a #12 cable from the hold down bolt that secures the gas tank on the front right side. I was very careful to follow the route of other cables and used many wire ties. It all worked out very well. Stringing the 12V cable to the front of the Spyder was a tedious chore the way I did it.

OK let me try to explain where the wires are.... There is a unswitched set of wires and a switched set of wires.. If you are looking for the unswitched it is located here:

NOTE: I have an 08 model and I'm thinking yours should be in the same location.

1) Open the hood
2) Remove the BLACK large cover to goes over the fuse box, not the cover that actually covers the fuses but again the large one with two prongs that fit in a rubber gasket.
3) Once you have done that you should see a series of wires that is plugged into the frame so to speak.
4) (mine was like this) In the center of those wires there was a WHITE plug with a purple and black wire, I think they where purple and black, pull the white plug out of the frame and the wires END right at the plug.. Those are the unswitched wires..

Good Luck.

The switched 3 amp accessory circuit has a harness that is normally tucked into the left frame extension (suspension support). The unswitched 3 amp accessory circuit harness is normally tied in the center, near the steering column. You may be able to access through the bottom, the left wheelwell, the panels inside the trunk (where your fuses and cooolant tank are located), or by removing the display cluster, but the most accessible way is to remove the trunk.

Nice--- I like that Trickie Dick,, had I seen this before I would have gone this method.. Still can I guess..
