• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Uninstall or removing front sprocket

New front sprocket was just delivered so I was trying to take damaged sprocket off but because inner spline is worn out and main shaft is free-spinning, when I try to unscrew the bolt, I am turning the main shaft and engine itself...

Any ideas how to hold on to gear or shaft to unscrew the bolt. It's a se5 so leaving it in gear doesn't work.

Thank you in advance.

Some of the newer good quality electric impacts work alright. Maybe a neighbor or friend has one you could borrow.

Thank you. Thought about buying one since my spyder was sitting at a loew's but didn't wanna risk spending $200 then having to get the spyder to dealer anyway. :) another tow to dealership.:(

Have to agree..!!

Air impact...you were at lowes could have bought the gun with compressor removed and installed and returned all in one place...:roflblack: Hope they getter done for you...!!

carefull not to break the bolt I think it's left thread not sure it's not that big of bolt and is a nitemare if you break it off in side of shaft as for holding the the sprocket I would take a 2x4 and pry wedge against the sprocket to hold it

It may be too late to help you, but if the belt is still on just have someone apply the brakes so the rear tire can't rotate which in turn will not let the front sprocket rotate.

I think he has the spline stripped out and the countershaft is spinning in the front sprocket. Curious how did the splines wear out? Was it loose on the shaft?

Inner splines wear out when it gets loose. I kept my eye on it( bolt head was marked)
for 4-5 month and no problem so it Began to slip my mind, now this...

NEW sprocket has splines going all the thru unlike old ones so that should help.

On the side note, last mech who replaced my sprocket installed it wrong side out... That's probably why it failed again only after 8000 miles. There are some really GOOD spyder mechanics out there...
