• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trouble with my RS not downshifting

Hi I am a really new owner of a 2008 RS.. E5 .. it has less than 3,000 kilometers
on it. Last evening while out of a ride I stopped at a redlight and it did not automatically down shift to 1st gear at a complete stop..I had to manually downshift. Happened only once was fine after... Any thoughts.

Thanks

Happened to me too when I first started riding SE 3 years ago. It's easy to not completly roll off the throttle when coming to a stop. Make sure that you are off the throttle and try not to make abrupt stops, sometimes downshift does not keep up with the rate of slow down. Try that, if the problem is still there could be the Gear position sensor

I'd agree with others & add ...

The SE5 uses the same engine oil for the transmission as well as the engine. Teddy had a 2010 SE5 RT-S that was very touchy on its oil level. If it wasn't all the way to the top full line, I'd have occasional intermittant shifting issues, but nothing major. I'd just have to top off the oil, & all was good again. Just be careful, cause on the RS, if you OVER-FILL the oil, it goes into your Air-Filter Box, and that can cause other issues:gaah:

:congrats: & :welcome:
:2thumbs:Hope you have many GREAT MILES of SMILES on your New :spyder:
