There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Trailer troubles

Just found out u haul doesn't have a trailer that will work for a spyder. What has everyone else done? Besides ride it of course. It's at the dealer 75 miles away and it's only me to get it home.

Their 6 x 12 utility trailer will work but you'll have to supply your own ramp to load the Spyder. Also, you'll have to rent it at home and return it to the same place. No one-way rental.

I got lucky when I got my Spyder from Utah to Oregon. Rented a Uhaul 6x12? enclosed. It had a ramp, it worked, but had to work a little to get it out when I got it home. I was lucky because they let me rent it there and drop off in Oregon. I think if I had run into trouble when I got there, I would have bought a flatbed trailer and sold it when I got home.

at the uhaul i went to, they have two different 6x12 trailers. one has a ramp that drops down.to do this, the rear opening of the trailer i# about 59 1/2" which will not allow a spyder to pass through without the wheels(rims)scraping.
The other 6x12 has a tailgate. With two 2'x8' ramps, about 6 feet long with ramp ends and a aluminum tri-fold atv ramp for the reat tire of the spyder, loading was without incident.

Let's see....

There are trailer rental place.(they have them all)...and then there is Uber...maybe a ryding buddy take you down then you ryde back together :riding:

Used Uber this weekend to go down and pick up my wife's new rig and then rode it back home.

Expensive ride down, yes, but I got a KILLER deal on her rig :)

Utility trailer

I know this trailer thing is getting worn out,but I was just wondering if a 6X10 utility trailer with the 4 or 5 foot mesh gate would work or would it be advised to use ramps? The reason I ask is that due to back issues I will have to trailer my Spyder to Spyderfest instead of ride,at least until we get there.
I appreciate all the post and threads that I read here on Spyderlovers.

4 foot ramp = hell no
5 foot ramp = maybe but depends on the opening as the overall width of the wheels is over 60 inches and you have to be absolutely precise in your riding on and off
6 foot = nice fit

One also must be careful of the angle getting, first onto the ramp from the ground, and second, the transition from the ramp onto the trailer bed. The challenges are scraping the front or high centering.

if you need to change angle of the ramp you can always put the rear truck tires onto 2x4's to raise them up and that will lower ramp angle

Hitch a ryde with a friend to the dealer and drive it home. Or try Uber there and ryde back. You must have pretty good weather there right now. And even if you don't, it's only 75 miles.
