• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

if you always would drive with helmet and a biker-jacket like me - its now really too hot on my RT .. someone wrote he installed some goldwing-vents on the Rt windshield (pics?)
I cutted my shield now also on the sides and de-installed the lower air-deflektors .. much better and still enough wind protection..
think its a little faster now - needs less fuel ...and looks more sporty ..
(any other ideas?)

Re: Too hot on the RT

At some point, some aftermarket genius will develop a vented wind screen for the RT, just like the one made for goldwings. I couldn't imagine 'modifying' a windscreen.

What I have done is purchased a COOLING VEST. You should research them. They provide cooling by evaporation on the outside, while you stay dry on the inside. They work under perforated or mesh vests and jackets. Here's mine from Fieldsheer.

When washing our RT the other day... Looking at the "A" arms I noticed that BRP made these "Humps" on top of all four arms. It directs air as we ryde towards the bike.

So my brain has been twisting on taking that idea say around the fog light area and see how well it does or does not work.

We considered taking the windshield off, but my lovely passenger gets beat up pretty hard at hwy speeds with the windshield down and we only can imagine how bad it could be without it...

Anyway.. That is what I am thinking about trying... :dontknow:

Unless you get some real cooling you'll just end up blowing around really hot air.

I've started to wear wicking clothes under my riding gear and it helps. I'm looking into some of the stuff you wet beforehand too.

Always stay hydrated.

I am not sure what you mean by "Biker Jacket". Someone mentioned mesh jackets/pants which is what I wear. Cooling vests work and there are neck bands that you wet and they help cool you off. "Wicking clothing works. Then there is the cheap method, wear wettable clothing and just pour water over it. This does not last very long.
FYI. Plain old hot weather. Make sure you are hydrated. A motorcyle seems to increase dehyration. as the old saying goes, if you do are not thirsty and you do not have a urge to use the restroom. Drink fluids, Now.

In my hundred plus miles yesterday and standing in a Flag line for a funeral, the back sign said, 94, the RT said 101. I said, just hot as ????

I live in central Florida and it is hot. I found the following video, tried it, and it works, very well. Not cheap, but on a trip this will keep you very cool and refreshed.

As far as the clothing goes they have a "cool shirt" it has a cooler that hooks up via to hoses runs on 12v and is awesome. I put cooler in rear trunk drilled two holes into front of trunk and ran hoses beside seat. It come either with a shirt or vest. They work. I'm burned and the heat just kills me this is the only way I can ride I n summer. You can take cooler out with spare hoses and use inside with converter. I know it works. :chill:
