• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

To the vendors and members of this board- Please read

I also received the post but I'm hear to stay. Found a home. Bob

Have a Christmas Special. Half price shipping till December 31. HO HO HO...

Thanks for the heads up Lamont. As far as anything related to the Spyder this is the ONE AND ONLY website in my opinion. If it wasn't for you I would probably be 6 or 7 thousand dollars richer, lol. This is the only website I visit everyday, thanks and everyone have a happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

I checked these guys out and so far they have eight members and it looks like two of them are involved in the administration of the site. I doubt they will be around long but Lamont is taking the correct action in nipping this in the bud. Just a big PITA that he has to mess with this kind of thing.

I've recieved several emails now from vendors wanting to know what's up with an email they got about a new "Spyder Lovers" message board. Seems that one of the dealers that until yesterday use to promote on this board has decided to create their own board to do their marketing. That's fine if they want to go that route but they are using the SpyderLovers name in their forum that I've been using since 2007. I have taken the legal steps needed to protect that name and I hate to say that this may get real ugly for them if they continue to contact the vendors and members here to promote their new site. If you want to start another site like this one how about using your dealership name and not trying to steal this one and the vendors and members here.

This is the kind of stuff I hate about running a site like this. It's happened before on all my other boards and none of them were successful and they soon failed but it will cause some division and it will cause me some grief I'm sure. I'm not going to go into details but I will say that if their site shows up here on our boards I will remove the post. I'm not going to let them use this site to promote theirs. I can't stop the backdoor stuff but so far the people that have contacted me are not happy and somewhat amazed that someone would do something so blatant and so wrong.

So if you're a vendor or member and you get a email to checkout a new Spyder Lovers site with all sorts of promises you can bet it didn't come from me or anyone else from the first and only real SpyderLovers site.

Thanks Lamont,

They have contacted me offering six mo. free advertising and top banner on the site. SpyderLovers has been my home since I designed the first floorboards for Spyder's and I have no intention on jeopardizing my relationship as a very longtime and happy vendor. Thanks for the added info. When you have earned the position of #1 in any business, someone will always come gunning for a piece of the action.

Ride in comfort,
John

I rather not. I want to take the high road on this Bro.

Hurray for you to take the high road. It's a shame you need to take action against another. Especially being he got his start here. Shame on him, or anyone else backing him! :lecturef_smilie::wrong: Tom :trike:

If you took the time to notify us with this post, why not name the individual, dealer, whoever, so know first hand who we're dealing with so we can show you our support by helping you to shutting down that site and get the word out? Why should the good work you've done so far be compromised?

I have so much respect for Spyderlovers that I buy all my farkles from Spyderlovers sponsors.

Lamont, keep up the good work.

Sponsors, know that if you leave, you also leave my business behind.

Lamont:
Thanks for the update,

I am staying with this Spyderlovers.com website. This site is # 1. I am behind you Lamont. Keep up the good work. Deanna777

I'm sure Lamont has considered this approach, but I agree with the nameless warning for a lot of reasons. This sad situation is being handled the best way possible.

I am hoping that this 'Offender' is simply clueless, but that is almost never the case. I'm sure they would see the 'Light' more clearly if Lamont opened a website using their business name with personal emails to their customers....
