It looks like if I got the numbers right the 205 60r 15 are 2 inch smaller width wise is this right???from the 225 50 r15 stock tire. Thanks
Nope! Bearing in mind that the sizes printed on the sidewall are only
nominal sizes, and may have only a vague relationship to the tire's
actual size, but 25 mm is about 1 inch, so the nominal width of the 205 is
LESS THAN 1 inch NARROWER in tread width than the OE 225 tire; and the difference in sidewall height between the 50 profile on the 225 and the 60 profile 205 is the difference between 50% of 225 & 60% of 205, which works out to being the difference between 112.5 mm & 123 mm.... :lecturef_smilie: . Which means the
205/60R15 might be about 20mm narrower & maybe 10.5 mm taller in rolling dia than the OE Spec 225/50R15 - which is pretty much basically just 2/5ths of 5/8ths of SFA difference on both counts, but biased ever
so slightly towards being maybe a little narrower (good for wet road ryding & even tire wear,
IF you're only running about 18 psi in the stronger constructed 205 car tire

) and about 1/4 of an inch taller in rolling diameter... MAYBE! :shocked: (That is good for making the speedo & odo/trip meter
a little more accurate instead of leaving them at the internationally mandated '
reading up to 10% faster/further than the Spyders actual true speed/distance travelled'.

)
However, even tho the size printed on the sidewall is only a nominal size that may differ from the tire's real size depending upon the manufacturer &/or tire brand/type, since we know that most non Kenda 205/60R15's
DO make most Spyder speedo's & odo's/trip meters juuust a little more accurate, and that the Vredesteins are closer to that nominal size than most other brands of tires
(including the 'generally small for the size' OE Spec Kendas - so when the Kendas are fitted, your speedo reading can lead you to think you're going faster than you really are & the odo/trip meter might tell you that you've travelled marginally further than you really have.... both of which can lead you to think that you're getting better fuel economy than those others running car tires, only you may not be getting quite as good mpg as you think!! :banghead: ) which means that it's likely you can safely assume that once you've fitted the Vredestein 206/60R15 you'll get something like that improvement in speedo & odo/trip meter accuracy that most others who've done the same have already found (even if
they didn't necessarily notice the change/increased accuracy in speed & distance travelled!

)
Enjoy the Vredesteins - if you're like most who run them at an appropriate pressure for the light (well, lighter than the average car

) load that your Spyder places on them (ie, about 16-18 psi in the rear, & 18 or so up front in the smaller/narrower tires) then you'll appreciate the all round improvement they can give you in things like traction, ride, handling, tire wear/longevity, puncture resistance, etc etc over that provided when running the OE Spec Kendas (&/or any of their clones!) :cheers:
