• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tips for selling a 2012 RTS-SE5

Sadly I need to sell my 2012 Spyder. It is in great shape with only 1500 miles on it so I'm hoping it'll be somewhat easy to sell.

I'm looking for any tips folks may have for the best way to go about selling it since I've never sold a motorcycle before.

Your on your way...

list it here and other spyder sites on the web and facebook. Add pictures (a must) list mileage, services, modifications, farkels, location and check the bluebook values and what they are selling for in your area...sorry you have to sell but hope it helps and it is a quick painless sale...

List it in Canada too

Hi,

Don't forget to list it for sale on Craigslist or whatever for the Vancouver area.

I'm sure that there would be some sort of inconvenient import papers that would have to be taken care of, but that would be more their problem than yours, and I know lots of people here who regularly import various types of vehicles.

The exchange rate is not good right now for us, but someone looking for a deal rather than paying full list for new would probably still be interested. At least it increases your number of potential buyers.

Good luck.

Liz

I think that Gene and Liz have you covered... :agree:
 I'm sorry to hear that you've got to take this course of action...
Your bike is a real beauty, so it you shouldn't have much trouble finding it a good new home...
Regardless of what happens: you're still family to us, so... :lecturef_smilie: Don't go anywhere! :D

Price it right!

Pricing will make the difference if everything else is good. Do your homework and check out KBB or others. You are not usually going to get full retail value. Somewhere between wholesale and private party sale is reasonable.

Accessories, I am sorry to say are worth 50% or less of original value. Most people will not pay extra for accessories they may not want at all.

Once you price your :ani29:, 500 looks and no takers will indicate the price is to high. Get it at that magic point, and it will go fast.

I have seen greedy people come and go fast. Those who seek a fair price usually make a sale.

Sorry to hear that you have to sell, but good luck on the sale.

I buy and sell quite a few bikes. Most important thing is to take GOOD pictures. Be aware of the contrast with the background and the background itself should be attractive. Detailing the bike is useful. Don't expect to be paid back for your accessories and add-ons unless another Spyder fanatic buys the thing. CL and Cycletrader.com are free to advertise in but expect to hear from a guy who is going on a long trip to Borneo and wants to pay with PayPal and have his agent pick up bike and title. Scams abound. The drop dead bottom line is the price. We all know that folks put one price down and expect the buyer to haggle. IF they have a price point and your asking price is on the high side of that point, they won't call. Most folks feel their bike that they are selling is worth far more than it is and take KBB values too seriously. Look at an initial asking price half way between wholesale and retail on KBB and then drop the price a tad from there. Make the price people see initially attractive if you want to sell fast; if you are in no hurry go more towards the mid-point between wholesale and retail. Expect ridiculous low-ball offers and visits from tire kickers looking for a free ride. And resist the urge to add Gothic or scull graphics at this point. When you make something very personal, it will NOT sell. People that stage houses for sale make the seller remove personal items; especially clutter and family pictures so that the potential buyer can visualize themselves as the owner more easily.

I would insist on cash (Check with Bank Pen) and Do the transaction near the Bank so you can deposit it quickly.
I would Not let anyone ride it prior to payment But they could follow me around for an hour if they want to so they see and hear it runs fine.

You can't even trust Some certified or cashiers checks in todays world?
