Awhile back I had to remove the left front fender on my 2012 RTL to repair wiring for lights. I noticed when I removed the 2 bolts that they had some kind of thread locker on them. In my infinite wisdom (NOT) I thought it wasn't needed, so I replaced without locker. Well I was riding the other day and I noticed that fender was vibrating a lot more than the other fender. So when I got home checked and sure enough bolts were loose. So question is what type of tread locker should I use the prevent this, red, blue, or other?

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So what is the difference between the Red, Blue, Green and Purple threadlocker?

:agree: In my experience RED loctite needs a LOT of heat to break its bond so beware.

Thanks blueknight for the heads up. :yikes: :2thumbs: I didn't know. I will go for the blue also. I show don't want to be using heat to remove.

No. It is a wicking formula. You apply it to the fastener after it has been torqued up. It wicks in the spaces between the threads. For the example given about electrical connectors. Applying a thread locker before torqueing interferes with the electrical conductivity. Applying the green after torqueing does not. There is no added connectivity.
