Thinking of getting a Sena 60 S Evo - anyone have one yet? Like it? Any comments/feedback welcome?

I wouldn't be looking for one yet, except that my Sena 50 C died this past weekend. Everything had been working fine on it for four years and then last Saturday I could hear music or phone calls but it would not pick up my Intercom with my riding buddies. They could hear me but I could not hear them. I tried resetting it, checking the firmware doing a fault reset and a factory reset. Called Sena and did the same things with them again but it wouldn't work. I asked if I could send it in for repair, they said no they don't do repairs. So there was nothing left to do but look for a new one. One new feature that sounds good on the 60 S Evo is active noise cancellation to block out wind and road noise.

One of the pair 50s for me got rain inside from a long ride. Messed up function, it will charge, hold battery life for a while, then go totally dead quickly. It's not waterproof, but water resistant. So I will wait a while to get a 60S when the price lowers.

So far the SRL2 units in our Shoei helmets have survived torrential rain and about 5 years of use. I think the units that mount into your helmets seem a little more weather resistant. Next year, when our helmets expire, we will see what we do.

Unfortunately, the new Shoei GT Air 3 and Neotec 3 editions of their helmets have a visor lock that keeps it closed which will really annoy me, so we may have to switch brands, but whatever we get, I’m going to make sure the comms mounts into the helmet rather than being external and more out in the elements.

I ride with an HJC C91 modular helmet to which I've added a SENA 3S Plus Boom Microphone Kit.

The 3S Plus Boom model fits entirely inside the helmet, with a small connector for charging..

I went with the HJC C91 helmet because it is designed with pockets for speakers and channels for routing wires inside the helmet.

When the 3S Plus stops holding a charge I'll just buy another since they're about US $100.
When the HJC helmet reaches it's end of life I can transfer the 3S Plus to a new helmet.

Yes, Motorcycle Dave is a great guy. I’ve dealt with him several times in the past. And he always has the best price on items. I will probably order the Sena 60 S Evo from him before long.

I looked at the Neotec 3, the visor clicks open with just a gentle touch of the button. I believe the Schuberth C5 has the same feature. I think we'd get used to it in no time at all.

Thanks for the info. I will try them out because our GT Air 2 and Neotec 2s have been great helmets, they are just aging out as we will have had them 5 years the end of this year. Living at high altitude with lots of UV I tend to stick to their recommended usage life limit, even though they look as new. If it wasn’t for that I’d just upgrade to SEL3 comms and call it good.
