The F3-S is AMAZING

Thanks all!
Spent the evening Saturday in my neighborhood. Now commuting to work. Taking the "Long" way home. :yes:
Spending each evening on a short, but getting longer, night rides. Keeping it simple.
I'm MUCH more comfortable with it now.

I haven't broke 60 in it and haven't been on the highway yet, but I KNOW it's faster than my 350Z.

I did get rained on today. :sour: Wore leather and was fine. Pants were a little soaked, but, it was a small price to pay for the experience.

I have been stopped and talked to by at least a dozen people asking about it. I always reply with a big fat stupid grin!

Glad everyone is starting to get some riding done...
Went out riding with a RTL owner and met at the local gas station. Seem a lot of other riding groups meet there too.
I had riders coming up and asking all sorts of questions about the F3-S and it's riding position.
Most were nice and friendly, one kept calling it a piece of "Jap-Crap", I just smiled and said I've rode most makes of bikes none were crap, this spyder is made by BRP- a Canadian company- that makes ski-doo, sea-doo, Evinrude and Johnson outboard motors, all are good brands. He just snorted and walked away.
His friend said No disrespect intended, he just a jerk to everyone. It didn't matter, my smile just got bigger. Three guys even asked us to ride with them, but we head out to explore on our own. I think spyders are so unique that people tend to smile and wave more then with any of my other bikes.
I'm sure glad I bought one.

Makes you kinda mad, huh? A couple of weeks ago I had a very nice "elderly lady" come up to me and say, "hey, that's a tricycle for adults!".

By the way, have you noticed any vibration on your F3 at around 67-72 mph? I'm hoping I can have my dealer look at it when I take it in to get my accessories if they ever all come in. The F3 is GREAT but that vibration/grinding is a bit annoying. I just want to make sure I'm not causing a problem somehow to the drivetrain. Have fun!

Robert, the cause is most probably ( 99.9% sure ) belt vibration ( which you posted several comments in threads dealing with that ). I cannot find it now, but Lamont did post that it was just the nature of long belts - happens on motorcycles too. From the other threads, while a belt-tensioner held promise, in practice it had little or no effect.

Thanks, Tom. I know you're right but am wondering why not everyone is having it? I would guess belt vibration would be felt on every F3. I had it on an old Vulcan but nothing this dramatic. Don't mean to hijack the thread here but I'd like to correct it if possible. It's going into the dealer next week and I'll see what they say.

On a lighter note, I get lots and lots of "thumbs up" and "hand waves" as I ryde down the road on my F3. The "tricycle" comment was said in a condescending way but, hey, everyone is allowed their opinion. I just focus on the thumbs up and hand waves! hyea:

IMO it's more for looks than for function. Most people seem to prefer a windscreen of some sort but at 6'1" I find the BRP windshields focuses the wind on my head and doesn't do much for comfort.

Sorry I can't be more help but it's really a personal preference.

I took a 50 mile each way trip this last Saturday and I was exhausted when I got home. Part of it is I'm new so not used to long rides. I expect it to get better the more I do.
Also 70 without a windshield is tough on the torso.
Can't wait for my stuff!!

The vibration is really bad. We will see after we get some miles on it. It needs to be fixed.

. . . . . you are now certifiably SPOILED.

All Spyder experiences are incredible, now you know why we all mention "grins" and "smiles" - but, while they don't meet everyone's needs, I think that the F3 is the best Spyder ever made. You started out at the top.

i may be a Spyder rookie, but I've already enrolled in an MSF course in May! So I'll have some riding experience and then will get a broader approach to smart and safe riding in general.
