Even though It is annoying I told you so.
If I were you (Which I obviously ain't!![]()
); I'd grab "finless Bob", and get started on a video that every 2013 owner with heat problems will want to see!! :2thumbs:
Just saw this thread :banghead: Jerbear, are you coming to the canyon cruise tomorrow? Finless is gonna be there, you guys could discuss the fix you came up with, maybe that will help him with his boiling gas issue
can't tell you how much....I DON'T.... miss "the dragon". nojoke

Seat crack heat. Using double sided tape I placed 2 custom cut four inch pieces of soft foam pipe wrap(think air conditioning foam wrap). Two pieces were used because of the left right panel junction. Exactally how deep to place them so they make proper contact when the seat is lowered requires a deliberate approach, or the foam will tear. Properly done, it works perfectly.

Jerbear,
This is my biggest problem. But I'm not following what you said above. Exactly WHERE did you place those two 4" pieces of foam pipe wrap?
Lift the seat. Look just below the center of the glove box, where the two side panels intersect. Eyeball where you think the lowest part of the nose of the seat sets when closed. Create a seal there.
Also, when you did JT's air box mod, did you also remove the resonator on the left side? I'm not even sure what the resonator does.
Removed everything associated with the stock air system.
I just installed JTs air box mod. Posted a pic of the plastic I removed. I am working on a air scoop to force air down through the honeycomb under the mirror.

Thanks, Jerbear. I'm going to look into that ASAP.Originally Posted by robmorgJerbear,

Thanks JT, that makes perfect sense. My spider is going into the shop next week, and while there I am having the pipes wrapped and some additional reflective insulation inserted . After that, your mod is the next thing on my list to try.Once you remove the air box the resonator only blocks air flow to the engine area so it is totally useless and in the way.

I installed JT filter and heat problems disappeared. Now I find that the air vents under the mirrors really do their job. The residual heat from the engine while riding slowly or stopped in traffic pours out the vents. Added adjustable air deflectors and am quite happy. Not sure that adding scoops to direct air down through the vents makes sense. That is where the hot air escapes. JMHO
