• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Temp Gauge in Traffic

Crisis

New member
Hi,
I have flushed and refilled radiator the proper way, no air pockets. Cleaned the radiator fins. Fan is functioning properly. When I am in stopped or very slow traffic my temp gauge eventually registers 6 bars, never limp mode. When I start moving normal speed again temp gauge goes to 5 and then 4 bars. Is it normal to have 6 bars in traffic at 85 F + outside temp? 2008 GS.
Thanks

Not unusual....

my RS will do that in trafffic and ryding in hot weather 100° or more. If more than that and fan does not kick in then do some checking...

Hot weather and in a "parking lot" on the highway or in town will always do it. Your fan should come on to alleviate some of it. If it is for a long time, I just shut the engine off.

Happened to us in Maui HI. On a road where an accident shut stuff down for about 20 minutes. Bike got real hot and went into limp mode. Pulled it over, let it cool, and by the time traffic was moving again--it fired right up.

I would say normal, normal, normal.

:D These bikes are just like their riders: they like being out in the wind!

...And they really do pout in traffic! :gaah:
