I was asked not to post anything about Teddy get'n his NEW 2011 Viper Red SpYderFest Special Edition #0001 RT-S until now. So that's why on Teddy's original thread, I was kinda drop'n hints about it, and saying I needed to stop that thread, cause that one was about his Adventures on his 2010 :ani29: and now he has :spyder2:. Sorry to mislead y'all, but was doing as asked, but Len from Cowtown gave me the go-ahead to let the cat outta the bag, so to speak.

I'll post pics when i get home today, but :2thumbs:WOW, IS TEDDYS NEW RYDE A BEAUTIFUL BYKE!!!:2thumbs: Absolutely AMAZING!!!

And those Elka Shocks are AWESOME!!! I can't give you a comparison to the stock 2011 shocks, as I never rode the :spyder2: in stock form, just the way I received it from Cowtown with all the added mods & Elkas already installed. But what a difference from the 2010. I knew from reading reviews on here that I needed to upgrade the 2010 shocks, but in planning this, I didn't want to throw $$ away on mods that I knew I was going to be trading in:thumbup:
I can't tell you how HAPPY I am to have the privilege of driving Teddy around on his new :spyder2: And as others have already stated about attention, yeah, I don't know how, but I'm sure Teddy's NEW RYDE will draw even more attention than his Timeless Black :ani29: If that's even possible.

Teddy had a blast on his trip to Cuba & meet'n almost the entire MO-Gang, not to mention Len & his family at Cowtown. Anything good you've heard about COWTOWN, doesn't compare to the personal & exceptional service that they provide. I thought it was kinda crazy when Sara told me that they had a guy fly in from Wisconsin (or somewhere) to buy a Spyder from them & then Ryde it all the way back home:yikes: & I thought Teddy & I had a road-trip there & back :roflblack: but nothing compared to that guy:bowdown: But I'm sure it was worth it for him, as I would do it all over again in a HEARTBEAT!

I'm sure most of you seen or heard about the devastating weather the mid-west was having for our lil road-trip down, and yes, I do have regrets on that front. TEDDYS :ani29: handled the rain and weather just fine, but when left around 6am, our Cincy weather was almost 60F & get'n cloudy, & I knew we were going into storms, but i thought my 1stGear Thermo Ryde'n suit would be too warm, so I wore my protective rain gear:lecturef_smilie: But sadly, it went from almost 60 here, to 42F along our route :yikes: and 42F with pouring down rain isn't fun if you get cold, which I did. I kept thinking as my teeth were chattering, "Fool, you shoulda wore the suit & you'd be HAPPY as a lark right now instead of freezing & chattering your teeth." Lesson Learned.

Teddy stayed dry & nice & toasty, as I did gear him up in his Seira Dog Winter Ryde'n suit & also his enclosed carrier. He does't much care for that carrier being enclosed, but it did keep him nice & dry, and on the return trip, it got up in the 70'sF and sunny, so I unzipped the top, and he was a HAPPY CAMPER:clap: again.

We made it back to my best friends house in Burlington around 4:30pm last night so his 8yo daughter (We missed her Bday Sat.) could see TEDDYS new :spyder2:. For her Bday, I bought her & her father matching Bluetooth Helmets so that once he gets his temps, he can take her out for a nice Ryde or two. They both love the :spyder2: & she's ridden with me a couple times around the neighborhood, so I figured they both need to Ryde, and eventually I can see doug get'n his own :spyder2: once he gets his life in order to do so:2thumbs:

It's amazing how one machine can elicit so many wonderful emotional responses and bring so many ppl together :2thumbs: I know this is a family oriented forum, so I'll just say that the :spyder2: has elicited more than just "Emotional" responses from me :roflblack::lecturef_smilie::roflblack:

OK, so I took advantage of the 1stGear Riding Suit being offered here by a fellow member (BajaRon) for $149 delivered.
You cant get it that cheap from the manufacturers website even,
so it was a Great Deal (if it worked)

Well, Ive had mine for over 3 weeks now (as of 12/30/10) & promised to give it a review once I had time to actually test it out, so here goes.

Let me start by saying, IMHO
for the price,
YOU CAN'T BEAT IT!



THERMO TEXTILE 1-PIECE SUIT
100% waterproof, 210 denier Hypertex
120-gram polyester insulation
Full storm flap closures on zippers, pockets and cuffs
Cargo storage pockets
Elasticized ankle closures and adjustable waist
2-year limited warranty

Ive ridden in 5-12 degree F temps for more than 30 minutes at a time, reaching brief highway speeds up to triple digits, and with only wearing normal clothes underneath, (long sleeve shirt & jogging pants) & the only thing that got chilled (not cold) was my neck area. While riding, the collar provides adequit wind protection with a full face helmet, but whenever I look down at my instruments, I can feel the cold air on my neck.

Ive read other posts talking about Balaclavas, but I havent really felt I needed one. I actually went out and bought one, and if I were going on a long trip in sub-freezing weather, I may use it, (thus still haven't) But Ive found for trips less than an hour, its not really an issue.

Ive been out ryding everyday that its been dry out. We had 2 weeks straight with below freezing temps, and I was able to ryde 11 of the past 14 days. Today, it got up to 37 & I went for a 100 mile ryde, just for fun. All was on the expressway & I was actually passed by a 2 wheeler, and the thoughts that went thru my head were, that guy looks miserable. He had no windshield, half helmet, scarf, at least 2 heavy coats & i dont know how many pants & gloves, but you could tell the guy wasn't having fun.
Me, on the other hand, thanks in part to the RT-S's heated grips & adjustable windshield, along with my 1stGear Riding Suit, I WAS HAVING FUN!!! I love this suit!!!

The legs zip up half way for easy access for putting on boots & then have velcro to close over the zipper to prevent wind/water from get'n in & elastic at the bottom to create a seal around your boots.

The arms have velcro adjusters at the end, so I put on my bulky gloves and velcro them tight and get no air/water penetration at all.

Now for the drawbacks

NO HAND POCKETS:
The Suit has 1 chest pocket & 2 smallish front-leg cargo pockets. It has no pockets on the sides like you have on normal pants. So, when you come to your destination, & if you take off your balky riding gloves like I do, you have no-where to put your hands to keep them warm while walking in the cold to your destination.

COLLAR:
The collar could be another inch or so higher to help buffer the cold air when looking down, but that may just be me. I mean, if I had a shorter neck, it wouldn't be an issue, right? LOL As stated above, looking forward with normal driving, the wind wasn't an issue in the neck area.

BULK:
The suit is kind of bulky, but I don't think you can really get around this, for the wind/cold protection that it gives you. I'm 5'9, 175lb & ordered a medium size. The waist is adjustable with velcro strips and the top fits fine, but the legs bunch just a bit, but nothing major.

OK, so...... all that be'n said, I checked out 1stGears website www.firstgear-usa.com and they do have another riding suit (Expedition) that looks like they corrected the few issues that I mentioned here, but for $500!!!

For $149 delivered, I'm enjoying ryding every day thats dry no matter the temperature outside. I hope this helps some of you that have been on the fence about this product. I don't think you would be dissapointed, I know I'm VERY SATISFIED & can now enjoy Ryding my Spyder Year Round!!!

Teddy makes a Road-Trip to The Iron Pony

Talked with Stan (SportySpyder) last week about ryde'n together up to the Iron Pony in Columbus, but Teddy's schedule conflicted last week, so we got together & went up yesterday & had a wonderful trip.

It was in the low 30s when we first met up at Speedway in Covington, and even tho we had to be there before sun-up, we were actually right on time & NOT late for a change :roflblack:

We gassed up our Spyders & got a lil something for ourselves as well (Teddy got beef-jerky) Stan had heard of this Inn & restaurant up that way called Youngs Dairy, so that was our initial destination. Since Teds Red Sled is GPS modified, we punched in the addy & we took the lead on our early morning adventure. I took one pic while in the parking lot, where you can just see the very tip of the Great American Skyscraper in downtown Cincinnati as it started to jut out from the thick fog bank that was covering most of the river-front. Not something you get to see everyday, so I thought I'd share:thumbup:

Just for kicks, I put The Tedster on the back of Stans RS, & the pup seemed lost :roflblack: As always, he warmed right up to Stan, especially when he saw that he had food, the he was his b e s t f r i e n d

Sooo I got a pair of Snowmobile pants in Wi when I was there in December last yr.. Not overly expensive at about 101.00. Kept me warm while there. And i could get out of it fast if needed. Had elastic closures at ankles, zip to hip for in and out with boots on. Suspenders to hold it up AND the back came almost to my neck!!! and had extra padding for warmth. Worked for me. Some women have problems with one piece suits. They did have a one pc there WITH a drop Door in the rear!!!( was too small for me!!!) That's my story and I'm stickin to it!!! When you gona put your Teddy stories in a BOOK Dave??? Waiting for it will give me something to really look forward too. Take care of Teddy and you of course.

REALLY??? Would someone steal a "Gremlin Bell" off of a byke?

I hate to think the truth would be yes, but I can't figure out anything else. When we got to the Iron Pony, I took a few pics of Stan, Teddy & our Spyders while in the parking lot before we headed in, & I noticed in one pic, that Teddy's "Gremlin Bell" is right there hanging off the brake pedal where Rob had helped us install it with a heavy-duty wire-tie just about a month ago. We didn't have one yet on Teds Red Sled, & when Rob found out, he immediatly gave us one:firstplace: & as I mentioned before, he even helped us install it:firstplace:
Well, on our trip home, I noticed Teddy wasn't leaning over the side of the byke like usual. Ever since we put the bell on, Teddy usually rydes looking down over the side of the Spyder at the ringing noise. Only now, no ringing sound could be heard. I looked down & to my Amazement, the wire-tie had a clean cut thru it & i was still hanging on the brake pedal, but no bell If it were not for the clean cut on the wire-tie, I could write it off as maybe getting broke off the byke from hitting a bad pot-hole or something to that effect, but nothing I can think of would leave the wire-tie with such a straight, clean cut, unless someone cut it off:dontknow: But I mean, really, steal a lil bell?.?.? Does this really happen?

Don't be too sure that it was stolen. Athough that is a distinct possibility, wire ties are very prone to failure, especially when exposed to the sun for a long time. When they break, it tends to be straight across, so it looks like a cut. Depending on the size or the wire tie, this can happen pretty quickly. I have seen them last only about a month. I have never has one that is exposed to sunlight last more than a few years. A length of 1/16" vinyl coated aircraft cable, with a crimped metal connector, is more permanent. Harder to cut, too.

Yep, the wire doesn't last and breaks even... lost mine after about month. Installed the new (gifted from fellow spyder lady) with a ziptie and it's still ringing..

Of course Teddy may have cut it off when you weren't looking because the ringing was getting on his nerves. :roflblack::roflblack:

Did anyone else use their Spyder for Trick or Treat?

Wish I had taken pictures, but I was busy "cheuffering" not only Teddy, but also an 8 & 9 y/o little girls along with "mom" all in the camper. Guess this has now become a Spyder'n tradition, as we did it similar last year, only with the BRP trailer. The Moto-Mate was more functional with having an actual "door" to get in & out of. Next year, I'll mount a couple of hooks on the outside so they can just hang their candy bags on the outside & not have to keep dragging the heavy things in & out each time. Have to admit, it may be cheating, but it beats the hell outta walking & they were able to get close to double the amount of candy as usual. We even had many ppl "trained" to bring their candy to us, cause they wanted to see the Spyder/camper set-up, along with Teddy:thumbup: So the girls wouldn't even have to get out, just wait for the ppl to bring the candy to them & yell "Trick or Treat!" We even had ppl remember us from last year & many ppl claiming, "WE'RE WITH YOU GUYS NEXT YEAR!"
