Teddy's New Adventures

Wooo Hooo - We made our reservations

IMG_20110928_191051.jpgThe Ohio Spyder Ryders second anual Hocking Hills Group ryde is this weekend & we just confirmed our reservations at the Lodge for Friday & Saturday night. We'll be shariing a room with another SpYder-Ryder (Starboy) from the OSR forum. We were originally planing on camping, but its been getting into the 30's & 40's overnight & Teddys' still got his summer coat. I'm now letting it grow out & just touching up around his face & mow-hawk:doorag: since we're now gettiing into the colder weather.

This should be fun, seeing as its a 3 day SpYder get-together. Last group ryde we were on were a few weeks ago, again with the OSR group & before that was SpYders in the Adirondacks in Lake Placid New York. I'll say one thing, this pup gets around

Had a nice road-side chat tonight

Took Teddy up to the park to play some fetch. It was right at dusk, and was getting hard for him to see the stick flying thru the air. So, we began to saddle up, when a fully dressed 2 wheeler rolled up to us, stopped & shut down so we could talk. Was actually the first time this has happened with a 2 wheeler, and surprisingly, he wasn't even interested in Teddy at all, but his Spyder. We must have spent the next hour talking about ryding and Spyder'n, the good the bad and the ugly (fuel economy-LOL) Believe the guy was a lawyer actually, as he had to take a call while we were both just sitting on our rydes, now in the dark, on the side of the road at the park. Talked about some good places to go for bikers that he's been to. Was a very nice guy. The reason he stopped was cause a friend of his has been looking into the SpYder, so he was curious for some first hand accounts of the byke. I told him about SpYderLovers.com and he said he'd be checking into the site. Also, while chat'n, mentioned how I ryde year-round with my 1st Gear Thermo Ryde'n suit that I got from BaJaRon. He was really interested in it, and said he'd be trying to find the thread Ron has about it on hear so he could order one for himself  I have to admit, I'm really glad Lamont started this site :2thumbs: THANK YOU LAMONT :firstplace: For such a Great Site to share with all

Was a BRISK ryde in this morning

So far, for this week, I've been back on my regular 8 hour schedule, so able to get some sleep again:thumbup:

Not leaving for work til 5:30am now & it was a BRISK 38F degrees for this mornings ryde. There's nothing like a BRISK morning ryde to help WAKE you up. Gotta admit, I really love having the heated grips and the adjustable shield on Teds Red Sled, they make all the difference in cold-weather ryding. Would love a heated Corbin seat, but that's just not financially plausible in the near future ..... one day tho  Still haven't broken out the 1stGear Thermo suit yet, as I know for the ryde home its suppose to be sunny & in the low 70's. Was thinking of taking the long way home since it will be so nice, but decided against it :yikes:

I'd rather take the short route & pick up the Tedster so we can BOTH enjoy some PERFECT ryde'n weather:2thumbs:

HEY BRP, Help Me to be Respectful - Quick Rant

Ok, so the SpYder is our first motorized bike ever & we're on our second RT-S now. I've never had the pleasure of ryding a Wing, tho I've read many positive comments and camparissons on here. And my take for the most part is, Give the Spyder 30yrs in the field & she'll be even more pollished than the Wing. Heck, with direct feedback from sites like this, give 'em 10 yrs & I think just about everyone that's inclined to a 3 wheeler will be singing the praises of the SpYder.

So, with that said, I have a really small gripe about the audio system. BRP, we shouldn't have to push the down audio button 18 TIMES to go from MAX to MUTE.

STOP! YES, I know that if you hold down the down button for a couple of seconds, it will mute the volume.

But that's not my point. Really, on a bike, you want things as Simple, Easy & User Friendly as Possible, right?

IMHO- ALL WE NEED IS 4 button pushes-
MAX-MID-LOW-MUTE.

To some, this may not be an issue, but for me, its an issue on almost every ryde.

Case in point.
I really like Kid Rocks "ALL SUMMER LONG" album. I also always wear ear plugs while ryding. Therefor, I usually ryde (especially highways) with the volume at MAX. I know many others complain about the audio sound quality, and I may be easy to please, cause I think mine ROCKS just fine. Even on group rydes, other ryders have commented about being able to clearly hear our tunes & how it made them wish they had a system on their SpYders (usually RS ryders) cause it really DOES ADD to the entire Spyder experience with the wide open roads, blue skies, wind in your hair & just like in the movies, its always better with a sound track. Ok, back to the example. Some of the lyrics on his album are a bit Explicit, Like "I don't want to be your friend, I just want to **** you like I'm never going to see you again" kinda catchy, huh -LOL Well, imagine coming off the Interstate and into a residential area with parents out playing with their kids & said lyrics come on. I know I can mute it, but it would just be much easier to just hit the down button twice to go from Max to Low, that way Teddy & I can still hear it, but not the surrounding neighborhood and kids.

Another example, we were going thru "Over the Rhine" which is actually more dangerous than downtown LA according to one of those sites that list such statistics. Pull to a stop with a large African-American gang on the corner & the lyrics came on, just at that time, "I think racist jokes are funny" ummmmmmmm WOW!!! Yeah, I hit the MUTE button really quickly on that one. Luckily, even gangs dig Teddy or I might not be here today:pray: If I had an easier option to get at a low volume, instead of having to hit the down button 10-12 times, such embarrasments could easily be overcome.

Again, just sharing how I think something on the SpYder that I use on a Daily Basis could be better. And this would be a simple Software or Firmware Update, nothing major or financial hardship to BRP. And again, this is just my opinion. God forbid, if I were to break out my old Sam Kinison or Andrew Dice Clay CDs & put them on the MP3 player -LMAO:yikes:

It's a good thing Radgirl only rides on the back seat. If she were up front, we'd be blaring Barry Manilow all over the place... :yikes:

Try adjusting the CB squelch while on the move! Oh, what I wouldn't give for a simple knob.

I know I'm just dreaming, but .............

Sorry Dave, I have to disagree. I use the more subtle adjustments all the time. For some, fewer adjustment levels would be wanted, for others, it would be a pain. To each his own. :)

With all the advanced technology, you'd think they could come up with an "app" that would allow the owner to choose their own settings. Now wouldn't that be SWEET?

OMG !!! I almost wet myself

I don't know about most of you out there, but seeing another SpYder on the road around my parts is a rare occurance. But to my pleasant surprise today, on the ryde home from work, with PERFECT ryding weather, BOOM, it happened. Only the second time now in a little over 2 years. I'm on I75 South and I look over at the merging traffic coming off of I74 and what do I see? A beautiful white RS-S with a female ryder  I was all smiles :D

It took a bit for her to get thru the congestion, but she caught up with me, and came along side & gave the SpYder a long look, then a nod of approval of Teds Red Sled:firstplace: I was sad he wasn't with me at this time for her to see, cause I know that see'n the lil guy on the back seat would'a just made her day :D We played follow the leader for a while on the highway heading toward the city, when suddenly she fell back. I hadn't been paying attention to the speedo & with the limit at 55, I noticed a cop car was now in between us & I was doing 68. Uh Oh, I thought she was gonna be a first hand witness to me getting pulled over, but the cop was just checking both of our rydes out, since he already had a perp. in the backseat. He then gave me a nod & a wave as he took the next exit, and she made her way back up to me & we were a two-some all the way til the bridge and my exit. Was nice to have an impromptu ryding partner for the ryde home. I have no clue who she is, but she sure does have one nice look'n ryde

After I got home, I geared up Teddy & off we went, for about 3 hours, 78F degrees & sunny, was a WONDERFUL ryde. Stopped by a river-side park that COZ introduced us to, and there were 2 different school track teams there for training. All girls, guessing between 12 & 15 years old sepperated into 2 groups of about 30 each. They were all jogging together about 3-4 wide in one lane of the 2 lane road. And as we slowly rode passed, and as one girl saw Teddy after another, you would'a thought we were going thru massive gaggles of geese at all the elated giggles as they spotted him going passed. Never heard anything like that in unison one after another and another and another. I dared not stop cause I feared Teddy would never make it out :roflblack: GOOD TIMES

Back on 12hr schedule

Had to be back at work at 2:30 this morning. Another Brisk ryde at 48F degrees. Again, not many ppl out on the roads at this time. Did have 3 Harlys come up from behind & all 3 did a circle around me, checking out Teds Red Sled. One guy gave me the thumbs up:thumbup: as the 3some jetted off blowing by me like I was sit'n still at 60mph. Guess it coulda been worse, at least he didn't give me the bYrd :roflblack:

This entire week is suppose to be perfect ryding weather & really look'n forward to the Ohio SpYder Ryders Hocking Hills Group Ryde this Weekend. Looks like we lucked out with Perfect Conditions:2thumbs:

Whoo Hooo :doorag::clap:

:joke:Good Times:joke:

Spyderman Went for a haircut on lunch. Now, cause of Teddy, he's wearing a hat. . .

Wow, even when the pup isn't there, he's still the Attention Get'n Topic of Conversation :doorag:

Instead of Get'n food on my lunch break today, I went to get my haircut. I didn't remember the stylist, as she wasn't my usual lady, but she remembered me. . . . . .err, I should say, she remembered Teddy:shocked: When my turn came up, she just called out "Spyderman " instead of my name. I didn't get it at first & just continued playing on my phone, til I saw her lookin at me & then she smiled & said, "Dave, your not awake yet, are you?" while chuckling. Then it registered, Spyderman, Oh yeah, thats me (duh) :opps:

So, to the chair I go & the first question she asks is, "How's Teddy, any new pics or videos to share?" Wow, this lady had cut my hair one time before about a year ago & she of course remembers Teddy:thumbup: So, I dig my droid out of my pocket & proceed to show her his most recent pics with his new Red Mow-hawk witch she just loves. Then I show her the clips of him playing fetch & walking down the street carrying his 3 foot long stick, to which she busts out laughing in disbelief. Next thing I know, everyone is around watching Teddy on the droidnojoke Which usually isn't a bad thing. . . . . . Unless your in the chair getting a hair-cut:cus::lecturef_smilie: lets just say, I'll be wearing a hat for a while:roflblack:

Moral of the story:
Wait til your done getting your hair cut to break out the pics & vids :sour::roflblack:

Hey - I saw you on I-75 Tuesday afternoon

I was returning from an emergency Cisco switch replacement (for work) in Detroit and was returning home (to Northern, KY) in my Xterra (2 hrs sleep, 562 miles round trip) and although half asleep - think it was around 2PM-ish I saw a sweet cherry red Spyder in the left lane. That woke me up, but being so tired I stayed in my lane an headed carefully back home, desperate for food and sleep. Anyways, it was cool to see you upon my return from one heck of a middle of night ride and crazy work. Left at 12:30AM and got home around 3PM or so, still tired lol.

Cool, we need to get together

Glad I could help wake you up :D I know it always lights me up when I unexpectedly see another Spyder on the road

:joke:You know, there are a few more Spyder Ryders in our area now & we should get everyone together for a group ryde:2thumbs:

OSR HOCKING HILLS RYDE ***WOW***

All I can say right now is, Teddy & I are going to do our best to NEVER miss another one of these get-togethers again!!!

WE HAD A BLAST!!!:joke::2thumbs::joke:

I learned a $100 lesson on the OSR trip

We had a great time at the Ohio Spyder Ryders Hocking Hills get-together & would like to say thanks to everyone involved in putting it together:thumbup: GREAT JOB:2thumbs:

I did however learn a personal lesson. Since it had been getting colder overnight, we decided it best to get a lodge room & split it with another member instead of taking our Moto-Mate camper & camping over night. The lodge & roomate were fine, but the beds were as hard as a board & with me still recuperating with a broken rib, I got hardly any sleep. Sunday, I was too tired to do the fairwell ryde & got our gear together & headed home at checkout time.

Unfotunately, I was too tired to make the 4+ hour ryde home & as much as I tried, Teddy REFUSED to take the drivers seat :helpsmilie: I felt lost without having our camper. With it, I always know if I feel too tired to ryde, I can always find a rest-area or safe place & pull over, hop in & take a quick rejuvinating nap whenever needed. But alas, this 3 hour nap ended up costing us almost a hundred bucks :sour: Lesson Learned,. DON'T LEAVE HOME ON A LONG TRIP WITHOUT TEDDY'S DOG-HOUSE ON WHEELS ;)

Been having some Awesome Weather

The temps have been great, in the mid 70's, blue skies with a few clouds & many of the trees leaves are starting to change & start falling around here. Teddy and I have been getting out for a few hours each evening and enjoying it as much as possible, hope you guys are as well:thumbup:
