On my one year anniversary of this mishap we had turkey for dinner! :bbq:This is not the bird I hit last year, it didn't make it.

My friends like to send me pictures like the one below to remind me...

Did anyone reading that title think this was about a collision with a wild turkey, you would be correct. We were riding 2-up on the way to work last Thur when Lynn (driver) told me there were turkeys next to the road on I-71 (65 mph). There was too much traffic to manuever away from them. I saw the turkey on the ground, but by then we were next to them and one had taken flight. I completely missed the turkey in flight. Well, Lynn was able to duck when that one hit the windshield, but I had no such luck. I was completely blindsided by it when it hit me full in the head and shoulder. It broke the shield off my full face helmet and destroyed the inside of the helmet, actually my head destroyed the inside of my helmet. Picture attached, I really am trying to smile:roflblack:
So, fractured maxilla sinus bone $1000, replacement helmet $200, one very dead 15 lb :cus: wild turkey and me still able to tell this story... priceless.
Now for my soap box....There is no doubt in my mind that the stability of the Spyder and my HELMET saved my life....so please if you wear a helmet don't ever stop and if you don't, please reconsider.:lecturef_smilie:
