• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have had a similar incident in our Spyder fleet. BRP has done nothing to help solve the situation. In fact, there is another spyder that is in the shop for a blown engine and it's been almost four months and counting that I am waiting on for the dealership to get the parts from Canada.

I honestly do not think that their product is standing up to it's integrity.

Another issue that happened just the other day was a leak in the fuel line in one of the bikes. I talked to one of the dealerships which I am close to and get my work done at and he says the new spyders that he has in his show room show signs of gas leaks as well. absolutely unbelievable Can Am / BRP.

Fix the issues or you'll be finding alot of disappointed owners. I don't care how cool the bike looks....it's not worth all the hassle of fixing a broke down bike every few weeks.
 
So today I called, remembering the Kens filter and asked them to install it. They replied...too late, it's all back together. BRP wanted them to check a few more things and they found "watery gunk" in the VCM "eviromental" connectors. They cleaned them and packed it with dielectric grease. They reflashed everything and updated the software, then took it on a long ride...so far so good. One more ride tomorrow and if all goes well, I'll have it by noon. The VCM is in a very exposed spot down by the brake pedal. Why...I have no idea. A few questions here...Why aren't the computers sealed in boxes, Why are the "eviromental" connectors garbage. It's ridiculous, these people make snowmobiles and jet-skis, boat engines and not to mention aircraft...Don't they know how to seal something?

Sounds like BRP is still selling prototype Spyders and has compounded the problem with a super poor service network. Glad I didn't buy one. I have been looking at buying an ATV. I wouldn't even consider a Can Am ATV at this point.

Not to mention that you live in Arizona, for crying out loud. You'd have to import water just to ride through it. :D Sounds to me like you have a bad connector at one end or both, and they are too cheap to replace the wiring harness or component.

The connectors were probably made in China. :D

Although it has been raining here recently, it's been dry out for several days. Aside from that, many people ride in much more rain than I and don't have this problem. Turgor pressure wins again?

I know the dealer should fix this, but I would wrap the connectors in question with either heat shrink tape or self-vulcanizing rubber tape. Both do a darned good job. I suppose you could just spread silicone on the outside, too, but it gets so messy.

The gaskets I would expect to be found, but the plug wire I wouldn't expect to be an instock item. A plug wire shouldn't go bad in 9k miles.

Your valve cover gasket have been replaced, and checked for leaks. No more leaks. Your ignition cable should be here very soon. I just checked BRP's website, and there isn't a backorder issue.

Thanks, I talked to Jeff yesterday afternoon and he said you'd installed the new gaskets. Thanks. Any ideas on why the old ones went bad like that?

I'm sure Jeff called you today, but I got your ignition coil wire replaced first thing this morning.

I don't know why your gaskets failed like that. They are rubber, and shouldn't be a problem reusing them after the valve adjustment.

Yep, Jeff gave me a call this afternoon. I'll be down on Saturday to pick her up. Man would I appreciate it if it's cleaner than it was when I brought it in. :joke:

I think Ryan washed your Spyder once, but I'll make sure he washes it again before you pick it up.

Paul the service manager will be there for the bike night.

Sounds good, thanks again. I may make it to Cape Coral, bouncing back and forth between that and Plant City.

I appreciate the updates on my Spyder.
