What did he say?
and the worst part is losing Speech RECOGNITION, you hear the words
but don't understand them :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
What did he say?
Side note: I am married, and my wife is the only one that said it was too loud...nojoke I only told her it was so I didn't have to listen to her while on the bike... :joke:
I greatly appreciate the responses. I began to respond to the first reply this time yesterday when I was getting off work. The response was a mere opinion and didn't address my original post. The response was more or less implying a lack of respect. Needless to say, I erased my response for a more respectful one at a later time. Do need to mention that assumptions are the end all, as we all know what assuming does. With that being said, prior to my posting I had done a couple of circles around my cul-da-sac with the muffler off. I then went to my immediate neighbors and asked their thoughts. No one said it was too loud - guess they are not fuddy-duddies :roflblack:.
Most of my knowledge is on 12v systems, not mechanical. I posted knowing that back pressure is crucial but didn't know if the cat by itself would supply the appropriate back pressure needed to perform efficiently. Then the rich exhaust smell had me concerned, again not knowing how that all works. Further examination of resources on the internet leads me to believe that the cat would provide enough at the lower RPMs but in the higher ranges it would start to suffer power loss. Exactly as some have mentioned here.
In my line of work, unfortunately, I piss enough people off. The last thing I want to do is piss off people when im not working. With that being said, as long as I am doing everything I can to be considerate of others, if you get offended by my exhaust suck it up and deal with it.
I saw countless post regarding HMF, Two Brothers, Tailgunner, RLS, and many other brands of exhaust systems. Its 6 to 1 and half a dozen to
the other regarding who has the loudest sound, who sounds the best, and many other categories. My issue is I want a certain look, but don't want to pay the high dollar for the exhaust. So I thought I would look into being a little different - no exhaust. This journey isn't about being loud as much as it is about getting the sweet rumble.
Again I appreciate the responses and took opinions lightly into consideration.
So I think I have addressed everything I wanted to address regarding the responses. Below is my conclusion
I became torn (as I have been for a month) between HMF and Two Brothers. HMF had an attractive price but not in the color i wanted ( i want carbon fiber but the flat black would match my spyder as well). Two Brothers had the exact look I wanted but i hated the price. :banghead: After more research I determined that the Two Brothers was the most versatile regarding sound. I could change the tips and even remove the interior packing to make the sound louder if I so chose. I have watched countless exhaust videos, but never got a good understanding of the sound because of distortion. I finally decided on Two Bros after multiple coin flips. I went ahead and ordered it so I can't back out. I will be sure to post my review as soon as I get it installed.

Well in hopes that AbNormy and Spacetiger may one day become my neighbors, I went with the two brothers carbon fiber m5. Looks super. I am currently having an issue with it staying in "limp" mode so can't test it out. But it does have a nice semi-quiet :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs: rumble.
Talked with dealer and after giving him symptoms, he said he thinks he knows what it is. Something to do directly with fuel and nothing to do with exhaust. So they are going to tow it into shop and get it taken care of for me.
Sooooo... How about it AbNormy and spacetiger, neighbors?
:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: who is talking about '' extreme annoyance '' here? all but the loudest of pipes aren't that bad unless the rider wants them to be.
I have searched high and low on this site and others looking for some answers regarding a straight pipe from the cat back on my 2013 RS-S SE5 but can't seem to find the answer. So I figured I would post it on here and see what kind of response I get.
I am in dire need to change the sound of my exhaust. I love the the loud rumble of a straight pipe (as is the case with my truck), but not sure how well it would work on my Spyder.
So that leads me to this thread... I recently removed the stock exhaust and started up the Spyder to see what it sounds like. It sounded amazing and loud! Has anyone does this and what are the potential pros and cons of doing this? Any issues with the performance? Any mechanical issues? I have looked at the two brothers single slip on exhaust, but not sure if I want to go that route or straight from the cat. With that being said, if it turns out that I end up doing a straight pipe, I will put a 45 degree elbow on it and a exhaust tip of some type.
It should be noted that with the muffler removed there is a heavy smell of exhaust fumes, more so that when the muffler was on. I know some of yall are saying "DUH!" but not sure how to word it any other way.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

We are getting near the end, will someone merge this into an oil or tire thread... Or perhaps a LED Farkle thread.
:banghead:
Thanks for this! Just what we were looking for. Picked up a Suzuki GSXR 1000 K9 rear fender for $20 and "had to" take the exhaust pipes too (including bolts and the cat). Jeff (husband who really does all the work on my Spyder) wants to put twin exhausts on my STL, and now they're just sitting in the shed. Thanks for the info on what you've done, and pics of the end result. We shall scratch our heads a bit, seeing as the ST is different to our previous RS, and see what we come up with. Just hoping it all works fine with JT air filter and without the cat. Might as well fabricate what we need to do this rather than just a Y pipe, though knowing Jeff it will have a crossover thingo. Love the looks and I'm sure we can mount them to miss the givi/brp saddlebags. Thanks again.See post #116 in the "My Mods" thread noted in my sig line to see how I made them. These were, by far, the best exhausts that I made. Loud, but not too loud.

Once some of the kinks with the bike are worked out... And I recoup from the price of the two bros... I will be adding lights... Hope to look like the sun driving down the road (day and night).shouldn't bother the neighbors anymore than my exhaust. :roflblack: But really want to do some under glows and LED upgrades... Make sure I'm visible and visibly LOUD :bdh:roflmao

Hi Jim; I'm looking for the same thing for my 2014 RT Spyder. I've watched a few video's and come down to the Hindle. I think it's Canadian made, and has the best sound I've heard so far.
