There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Stock seat mod gas door

MOSESS

New member
hello guys I am looking for the vendor that sells the gas door for the seats. I know all I have to do is go on ebay and ill find the door but this guy has the bolts on the backing plate that will not scratch the paint on the dummy tank when you lift it. He was up at spyderquest this year...thanks.

Try this..

get in touch with BLUEKNIGHT911, he has made quite a few of these mods...he would know what you need.

What a stupid idea it is to put gas cap under the seat. It is a PIA specialy if you have a bag on back seat tied down.

Too true. It always annoys "The Queen" when she has to get off so I can raise the seat and fill up. A gas door might be a winter project for me.

Crazy

I think they just ran out of ideas and took the easy way out. does any one have the part number or ebay number listing. thanks.

I like it, It keeps the gas filler locked and out of sight. You can leave the key in the ignition. On my older bikes, I was always worried about scratching the tank with the ring of keys I had.

Gas Door in a Spyder Seat

Try this thread. It details the installation of a gas door in the seat.
I hope Mike shows up to give the name of the Gas Door Cover and the Fuel Filler Cap he used.

I believe this is the Fuel Filler cap that is needed.

For my Spyder ST, I'm planning on using a Fuel Gas Tank Cap Cover & Key For Kawasaki Ninja 250 250R 88-07 ZZR600 ZZR1100 from EBay. It's smaller than the cap used in the thread but appears to be a good size for the ST-S. No guarantees of fit or function. Please confirm with your own measurements

I have not started this project yet. I'm waiting for winter maintenance and farkle season.
Cheers,
David C.

YOU GUYS ASKED FOR PART NUMBERS

These are E-bay item numbers for parts that I have tried and know they work very well ..... for STS Gas Door # 121819267500 .... using the Stant can be a problem only plan on putting it in ONCE ...otherwise get the PermaCap ...................Large Gas Doors - Chrome # 281781118481 ......Black # 381504238006 , both of these ....are less than $ 30 shipped free..& have larger openings so it's easier to get your hands in to open the gas cap the Dodge that Bill used is smaller...... your all welcome ......Mike

Based upon the design of the bike: where would you put it? :dontknow:
They didn't decide to do it to aggravate you. There were very specific design parameters that dictated it's placement.
Mike added the door to my seat, and I'm 100% happy with it...

Blueknight

Has come through again , the location stinks and I understand that the design parameters are very tight due to location, maybe up top in the little storage compartment above the seat, any way thanks guys this has been a blast. Just ordered the door..

GAS DOOR INSTAL INFO

I should have mentioned this :banghead::banghead::banghead: ..... Home Depot ( & Lowe's ? ) sells " T " nuts in various thread sizes .... Use these ( with Lock-tite ) to attach door RING instead of Lok-Nuts. Get the size to fit your bolts..........have fun ......Mike

Hi Mike

Mike thank you I ordered the door today so ill head over to HD or lowes when the door arrives. Mike thanks a bunch. My wifes thanks you to. she hated when she has to get off the bike for refueling.

Does anyone have a template for the exact cutting location for the RT seat??? Or an easy way to locate the exact location of the hole???

Can you use the stock gas cap or must you use the aftermarket one???

THANKS, larryd

I use the stock cap with mine...

It's a bit tight: getting my paw down in and around it... but no problems!

I have a new gas door if anybody is interested. Never installed as I bought a Ultimate seat with gas door. The gas door I have is a AMI 6044 Brushed Non-Locking Fuel Door. I paid $75.00 for it but will sell for $45.00 or best offer. I will post this in the 4 sale section.

There is a complicated way of measuring how, but in reality when I was doing installs ( 15 so far ) I just put it against the seat as far forward so there is approx. 1/2 inch seat material above and below the edge of the outside ring ....... and if you get either of the doors from E-bay that I posted above ( for $30.00 ) you can use the STOCK - OEM gas cap ....... Hi Mike

Hi Mike ,I ordered the black one and before I drill holes I am having a denser foam install in the front seat area and then recovered with a new skin that I have yet to pick out. being that the door has a lock I was hoping to us the stock cap, glad to know. How many of these have you done, do you do any thing else.
