• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Steering Recall Webcast Aug 25

Is anyone on this forum a BRP tech or salesrep who attended today's webcast?

Have any owners contacted their local service department to find out if they attended the webcast?
(One of my techs is still trying to logon to watch the replay; I left a voicemail for the other one)

Any news for Spyder owners with the Post-Recall Blues?

I stopped by my dealer a few minutes ago and talked to the tech working on my spyder. Just so happens my new DPS unit came in and he was installing it. He said they just got done watching the webcast and they admitted changing the mapping or timing of the purge valve. They also stated that some bikes are having surging issues because of this and it is magnified if they have aftermarket exhausts, air filters or JBs. They are working on another update mapping for the ones that are having issues and basically there is nothing that can be done until then.
Keep in mind this is second hand and a highlited version and I know some of you are completely stock and having the same problems.

Our experience...ride it out. Ours runs better than it did, but we just rode out the spurts instead of getting tied in a knot. I was concerned at first, but since we were so far from our dealer, we just rode. The Spyder never let us down and now all is well.

Nothing earth shattering in the webcast from what I understand. The tech I talked to said that when problems come up initially it is the front line techs that are realizing the issues, and do alot of the work to find the solution. Then the engineers at BRP research and come out with the "this is the problem and this is the solution" statement. That was the jist of the webcast. Of course the techs have figured it out already and so it is not so new. However, there are a few new updates coming regarding the Evap canister and one other which I can't recall. I am hoping to have my bike back by the weekend but the updates will probably not be ready by then. Didn't ask too many questions so he could get back to work on my bike!

Alot of us really didn't want to get tied in a knot , Dudley , while I am very happy yours got better , after hundreds and hundreds of miles since the update, our (2) Spyders are still not running correctly with the hindles on them , running with the stock exhaust is an improvement but still not right. many people have tried to "ride this out" but to no avail. The webcast today was very good of BRP , they admitted there is an issue (search my past posts and you'll see my theory ( which was proven correct today by their webcast) that they messed with the evap purge valve settings) and they are working on it.

I had problems at first so I just tweaked the JB a little, Drove the H--L out of it, and now went to 91 octane. No surging, no sputter, no cough and no hesitation; all it wants to do now is purr and fly.:D

I don't care what updates they come out with to 'fix' this------ I'm not putting my evap canister back in. It is SO nice to not have that nasty gas smell !

My question is why did BRP make this change--- for what purpose?:dontknow:

Gas smells?

I guess that is something we will never know. Hopefully in the end all the Spyders that have issus will once again be purring along.

Does anyone know the architecture of the BUDDS system and how it performs the software update? Does it down load microcode to the bike?

If BRP is working on a code fix rev. update to "fix " some of the issues SOME are having

How will it know your bike has Hindle, JB etc>
Or is the next software fix one size fits all ?

What version of this software is currently being used?
How would one know (including dealers) that the download of new parameters is the updated Rev>?

Like all good software it needs to be "slightly obsolete" .
Too bad we test this all .."in the big lab".

Bike is running great . Think i ll wait this code out a revision or two.

Do you have a aftermarket filter,O2 sensor or exhaust?
I think this is the key here.

My dealer has my bike and they said the same thing...funny thing, I heard about the purge valve on this site first....hmmmmm:dontknow:

I'm a QA software tester. My mantras are "Never implement version 1.0 of anything" and "Never upgrade until you need it."

There's a price to be paid for being on the bleeding edge of technology.

Does putting a clamp on the evap line eliminate the problem?? (or eliminating the evap system totally, which is what I'm planning, vis a vis fires).

Strange...I have never had a gas smell...it's amazing how variable these bikes really are!
