• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Starting RPM

Is it normal for a F3S to jump to 2500/3000 rpm when first
starting up? Mine does but settles down to 1000 rpm or so
quickly. Seems to me that is rather high for an initial start
up and having no oil pressure. Just curious!!

Thanks in advance.

Not being all that specifically familiar with the F3 & 1330 motor, this may not be strictly applicable, but a surge of revs on start-up that then quickly settles to the regular idle speed is very much a feature of virtually all EFI motors - & the 1330 certainly is one of them!!

So I'd guess that it's 'normal' as far as the ' increased revs on start-up' is concerned, unless of course it stays at those highish revs for much longer than 10 or so seconds.... :sour: But I'm sure others with more exposure to those motors will reply in due course - in the meantime, I'd suggest it's probably best that you just ride more, & worry less!

I was just in for service and the shop told me that it was normal.... Thats why I use Amsoil so the motor has some protection during startup

Yep.....even states it in your manual.

Thanks Guys. One less thing to strain my little brain that needs
to be retrained from Honda to Spyder.

They probably rev it to build up oil pressure immediately - it's a function of engine speed.

According to someone who installed an oil pressure gauge idle OP is 2psi, while 3-4,000 rpm yields about 60.

Is the F3 1330 different than the RT 1330
My 1014 RT when cold starts at 1200 rpm and settles quickly to 900 rpm
And the shop manual states that when engine and oil are worm 2psi or above is ok
That is why
I installed an oil pressure gage 2 psi leaves no room for wear
the oil light will not come on at idle unless you are under 2psi so by then you are probably at 0
and it will not come on at highway seeds unless you are over 58 psi or under I believe it said 5 psi

I do not want my motor running at highway speed with that low oil pressure
