• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Starting issue with F3-S

When I try to start my F3-S SE6 the dash says that it is in reverse and won't start. I have to turn the switch on and of several times before it will start. This has happen several times. Experimenting with different senarios I was able to recreate the issue.

How to recreate: 1. When the bike is running, put the bike in reverse and backup. 2. Stop the bike and press the kill switch and then press the park brake button. 3. Then the next time that you turn on the switch, it thinks it is still in reverse and won't start.

If I put the bike in Neutral before I press the kill switch, it works fine. Anyone else having this issue?

That the way it should be.

If the Spyder is in any gear, you HAVE to hold the brake pedal for it to start!

Of course, that's for the SE tranny.
 
SE6 model

It is SE6 Model. When it is in any forward gear, and I press the kill switch, it automatically goes into neutral.

Why not put your foot on the brake pedal, shift to neutral, set the parking brake, and then turn the dammed engine off. I think my manual actually says that's the proper procedure for shutdown.
Why would you shutdown with it in gear in the first place?

Here's the thing....

No matter what gear you are in when you shut down on the se models that is the same as being in neutral. If you are doing this to keep from rolling it won't help at all....:thumbup:
 
The bike ACTS like it's in neutral; because you can roll it around freely. This is because the engagement clutch is still "freewheeling".
It stays in whatever gear you left it in, and shifts into neutral when started, because it needs to be running in order to shift itself...
My advice?
Put it in neutral before parking it; there's NO advantage to leaving it in gear! :thumbup:
 
I was told early on when first starting to purchase bikes is never ever use the electric on and off switch Keep this on at all times and just use the ignition to turn the bike on or off. When I purchased my first Spyder this was also told to me by the dealer.

No, it does not. With the engine not running the automatic clutch is not engaging but it is not the same as being in neutral.

It's safety issue so you don't accidentally start it in gear and have it take off when you are not prepared. I always put it in neutral and use the key to shut down. The emergency shut off switch is for emergencies not for normal shut downs.
 
It shouldn't make any difference what gear it's in when you shut it off. When you start back up, the computer will automatically shift to neutral. If yours continues to not start correctly, there is an issue either with the computer or the reverse sensor.

I thought the switch was procedure.. Always used it on my two wheelers...

It doesn't matter how you shut them off; just develop a consistent routine, and you'll be fine. :thumbup:
