There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. SpyderWolf- tricfenderz question

Did you cut your tricfenderz wires to length? I haven't taken the fender lights off yet; but, there seems to be quite a bit of excess on the tric lites. Also, would it be better to get posi-taps rather than use the two separate pieces for each wire that are supplied with the tric lites?

Thanks

I cut my wires to length, leaving just a little bit extra to play with. The wires on the TricFenderz are very thin, so when trimming you need to be careful not to break them. On my wife's Spyder we used the clamp and spade set up that came with the lights. On my Spyder, I just added them to the Posi-Tap that already had the LED Mud Flap light connected. The wires fit in there perfectly, and I never had any problems getting them to work.

Take your time, and everything should work out great for you.

:agree:I also cut the wires to length, and used Posi-Taps on 3 of the 4 connections, mostly because it was a lot easier. I got the spade on the first one (took a while), but I'm already comfortable with the Posi-Taps, so I used them. The thin wires are indeed a challenge, so I ended up stripping the wire a few times before I cut it to the length I wanted.

Bottom line, though, it's an awesome product; enjoy!

I didn't cut my wires--just in case--and was able to just work the excess in. I did use posi-connectors, made it much easier. Good Luck. :ohyea:

I may just loop the excess and wire tie and try to push into the recess; if it looks neat I'll just leave it. There were posi-taps already there; so, I won't have toadd the connectors from tricled. I don't think I will re-use the cable clamps. They are a pain to remove and I do l know how to remove by pushing one set of jaws to the side. I'll use black wire ties instead.

I was going to install this A.M. but was sidetracked with an antifreeze leak. I did however connect them to my powerlet meter connection. The combo of amber/red looks good.

I hope you were able to get the antifreeze leak sorted out. Already having the Posi-Taps there will make the install that much easier for you.

. The combo of amber/red looks good.

I ordered my amber/red combo lights Tuesday. I'm going to run them all the way into the control panel and put a dimmer on them. There are times I just want an accent of light and times I want to standout.

I'm wondering if there is anything that can be done to disburse the light from the individual LED elements? I'd like to make it look less like individual lights and more like a tube of light that flows from amber to red. My first thinking is to use something to 'frost' the clear glaze on the lights. That will smooth out the disbursement. Thoughts anyone?

You may want to play with them on a test bench before making your final decisions on the dimmer and such. The amber is not as bright as the white, due primarily to the color itself, so you may not really feel the need for the dimmer. In the bright sunshine they are not very noticeable at all, but when ryding in the dark they shine nicely.

A diffuser may work, but I am thinking if it is too strong it may not allow any of the light to actually come through. It does sound like a cool idea, and more inline with the Project Nite lights that Reggy has in development and posted on his web site. This is also going to take some trial and error.

The good news is you can power them up with a 9 volt battery for all of your testing, so there is no need to install them on the Spyder first. Best of luck, and please keep us posted on whatever you decide to do.

I will absolutely take your advice and do a bench trial first. I have an idea on how to do the diffuser. I need top look at the material that encapulates the LEDs. It SOUNDS like a Pilot flex stril LED that I have seen and used on my family car (http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1198&d=1283058603 ). If so.... I may try a sample strip and use a chemical to fog the clear covering. Again... I'll TRY it first!

I'll post results in the Mods forum.

I will be looking forward to reading about your results.

UPDATE---
In fact, the material in the Pilot stip LED lights appears to be the same as in the TricFenderz. I experimented with the Pilots. Chemical fogging doesn't work. I then used fine grit sandpaper and while it sorta works, it really doesn't disperse light that well and it looks ugly. SO.... It may be another week when I can get back to it, but I'm going to see what they look like slipped into a white plastic tube. Trying this will be really inexpensive to try. Searching the web, I found all kinds of solutions... in CHINA! Nope.

I had a long, heavy zip-tie (about 3/8" wide by 20" long). I laid the TricFenderz in the grove, then lightly taped the zip-tie over them. GREAT dispersement! Only issue is that I'm trying to figure out if I like the white stripe down the middle of the black fenders!

Reggy- if you're reading this, I'm really interested in your ideas. My goal is to make it less 'pin point light' and more of a neon tube look.
