• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

On my way home work today we pulled right up behind a red Spyder on the freeway.

We noticed that his drive belt was way off so we followed him. He ended up stopping at the local DMV, we chatted, hung out while listening to the computer lady call numbers ("B155 and window #3" you know?).

Then after he was done in the DMV we went out to check out his Spyder and got to talking... I told him that he could bring the Spyder to the "SpyderGirl Garage" and I could adjust his drive belt for him. He graciously accepted my help and we fought traffic 35 miles back to our house. I fixed his belt, we chatted some more, ate some pizza, and made a friend.

I told him about SpyderLovers so I assume you'll see him around here soon. :D

Very Nice. Treated him to a little Midwest Hospitality.:thumbup: :clap::clap::clap:

Indeed. You can take the girl out of the mid-west, but I guess you can't take the mid-west out of the girl. :D

I was very happy to do it for him and it's always great to make a new friend. :doorag:

Great job Spydergirl!

:clap::2thumbs:
:bowdown::firstplace: Good Sam award!

..Also congrats on your photo award :thumbup:

:ohyea:

You really are the coolest Spydergirl & making friends is what's it's all about .. " helping fellow Spyder ryders is a very good thing " :firstplace:

Thank you all for your kind words. I love photography (and art). I'm not sure why I am stuck sitting behind a desk investigating bank accounts for suspicious activity (gotta do what pays the bills I guess). If I could I would just travel all the time (by Spyder of course) and just take pictures all over the place. :D

And of course help out any SpyderLover who needs it. :)

Nice going

Hi:spyder2:Girl,

you meet the nicest people on a :spyder2:. Helping out a friend you didn't know is what we:spyder2:Lovers are all about. Nice going! Keep paying it forward. I was in Elk Grove and Lodi a couple of days ago. Thanks for the dealer tips. Sorry we couldn't meet. maybe in May when I come thru again.

Best,

John,

Yeah, sorry we missed you. I had to work.

So to add to this thread... a bit turn of luck you might say...

After having helped out a fellow Spyder rider yesterday, a fellow Spyder rider had to help us today. While commuting home from work, sitting in the usual stop and go traffic just before the Caldecott Tunnel, we had some issues.

As we were coming through the tunnel I saw SMOKE coming out of the vent on the front right side.... then the smell of coolant. Of course I was having an "Oh S**t" moment at this time then noticed the temp gauge quickly creep upwards. We couldn't stop in the tunnel of course and the exit was 3/4 of a mile away and there was not shoulder to stop on. About 1/4 of a mile from the exit the temp was at full hot and it was in limp home mode. I coasted it off the freeway and found a good place to pull way off the road (near a Park and Ride). :helpsmilie:

We proceeded to pull the panels off one by one to pinpoint the point of failure thinking that maybe the cap failed and it exploded out of the cannister..... nope. Checked the hoses... everything looked okay. So we called my mother-in-law up at home and had her fight traffic to pick us up and bring coolant. We filled the coolant up and tightened everything down. I geared up to try to ride home and after only running 5 minutes (after sitting off for about a hour) the coolant exploded out again.

So.... we found a somewhat safe place to leave her (25 miles from home) and left for home to pick up the trailer. We called on our good friend and fellow Spyder rider Rich (the one who drove all the way to the dealer to get bearings for the Spyder just three days before out trip) to borrow his Avalanche to pull our trailer to pick up the Spyder. Nearly 5 hours later since we left work, we were finally home and had the Spyder in the garage. And now we are FINALLY eating dinner.

WHAT A DAY!!! :gaah:

So.... ANY THOUGHTS?? My guess is the thermostat failed.

Cracked coolant plastic bottle? Look on the front part, about 1/2 way down the bottle. The brace at that spot is abrasive and has caused more than on bottle to crack...mine included.
