• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Interesting conversation at the gas pump - asked why I chose to ride a Spyder rather than 'a real motorcycle'?!

Just for the record. Earning the approval of a stranger at a fuel pump does not factor into my choice of vehicles. And that is exactly what I told the last person that made disparaging remarks about my Canyon.
I've never understood what prompts people to hate on someone else's ride. Frankly, I think it is thinly masked jealousy. I may not ever want to own what you ride. But that is a long way from hating on it. If you like what you ride, I'm 100% for it.

I'm not a very social person at the gas pump. Usually just want to fill up and go. Most bikers around here are like minded. But often times I'd have someone look at my Spyder and ask how I like it. My usual response was If I didn't like it, I wouldn't own it. That almost always sends them on their way.

I get stopped and asked all kinds of questions everywhere and for the most part I have had only one person hate on me, and that person was on foot thumbing for a ride!!! I was kind to him and told him that until he tries it, he shouldn't knock it! It works better than sneakers!

We named our first 2018 "The Hook", as people always came up and ask about it.

All three will carry on with the Hook on the front.

If somebody has to ask if it is a Harley or not, meaning they can't tell by just looking at it, then they wouldn't know a Harley from a tumble bug. Why would their opinions even matter at all to anybody? Tell them to go away and keep their uninformed opinions to themselves. If they say anything about a Harley to me, I usually tell them the truth. I rode Harleys for about 30 or 40 years, then I found something way better.

I have never had anyone disparage my Spyder, including a large group of Harley riders at a gas stop at Sturgis. They asked why I didn't go with a Tri Glide - I told them I thought the Spyder was more comfortable. The ones who had ridden a Tri Glide just smiled and nodded in agreement. Most people, especially older people who used to ride, told me that if these Spyders had been available when they stopped riding, they would still be riding. Different areas, different people.

I have probably had as many complements on my Spyder F3L in the 2 years as I have had it as I've had on the many BMW's that I have owned since 1972. I'm really surprised about the very many complements I get, a lot of them from previous motorcyclists wanting to ride again.

In almost 11 years I've been rather frequently asked, most often by women, "Is that fun?" My standard reply, "If it wasn't, I can assure you I wouldn't do it."
Totally agree! Six years now on my '18 and the women comment 50:1 over men; all are smiling when they ask, yes, waaay fun to ride (and more comfortable than my 'ol Bonneville.)

Pick anything on wheels, and there will always be a detractor standing by to tell you what you should have bought instead! I rode on 2 wheels for many years, and don’t recall any strangers being curious about my ride. I had my Spyder for about 2 weeks this Fall before the first of multiple people approached to ask questions about it. It’s not something that most people see everyday, AND I LOVE IT!

By the way, all of you Ford and Chevy drivers out there are crazy. You should have waited for a Yugo! 😂

Sit there at the gas pump, look all around you. Look over to the sides of the gas station. Look in the lube bay if they have one. Then ask them where they parked their Harley. You would like to check it out...

People can buy a Harley cap and t-shirt. That don't mean there is a Harley in the garage. It don't even mean there is a Vespa in their garage. They're probably driving an economy car full of dogs and kids.

If you pulled in there in a '63 split window Stingray, some 20 year old kid that is emptying the trash cans and hosing down the sidewalks is gonna tell you he used to have one.
