• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Spyderfest 2016 at The Best Western Coach House (official Thread)

Camping

Any updates on camping sites for Spyderfest??
Saving my allowance for farkles and fuel.
Cheers,

I just booked last night and they told me the same thing. I will have to find another hotel for the night of the 27th
I've got a room starting on the 26th...
If we can get you a cot for the evening; I can always use the company...

I'm friendly; but not quite enough for the Single-King bed to be up to the task.

Thanks. I will have to see what day I will get in. I can't leave until Monday from the DC area and this will be my first long distant trip. Going to be high adventure and I have a lot of planning to do before then. The Army is sending me to a school for 10 weeks in January so I will only have about 6 weeks of Spyder piloting to plan my trip. Also, I sweet talked the Best Western lady on the phone and she took my number and said I would be the first one she calls if a room comes open. That's my charming personality...good thing she has no idea what I look like :roflblack:

Maybe the gal at BW just wanted to get you off the phone! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Where are you going for training? Could you take your Spyder with you?

You know, you may very well be correct :sour:

I thought about taking it with me, but it is in Norfolk, VA. The weather is so hit or miss there in the winter I can't risk not having a ride. I plan to make it home some weekends, so maybe I can get some riding in before the end of April. The problem is it has been so nice here, I have a feeling the Man upstairs has some significant snow due in for us during the New Year.

Don't overthink this.

I bought my first Spyder in April, 2013. Prior to that I may have had 10 miles under my belt on a Spyder. One week later I left for Spyderfest and rode 500 miles to Springfield, 450 miles in the rain. A very cold rain!

I'm on my second Spyder and over 33,000 miles.

Get on it and go. You'll be just fine.

You are probably correct. Being an Army planner, it is in my DNA to try and think of ever possible contingency and plan for it. Come the last week of April I will hop on my Spyder and hit the open road. I am looking forward to it. I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles moving all over the U.S. This will be my first trip not in the confines of an automobile.

We have loads of time yet, before the "Infestations" start forming... :D
... But I'll be leaving from the Catskill Mountain region of New York State...
I'll probably take Route 80 out to Pittsburgh...
Then switch over to Route 70; which gets taken to St. Louis...
And finally: a quick trip down Route 44!
( I think!)

the 70/79 interchange is at Washington pa. i'am 40 miles south of there in Morgantown wv. if by chance I get to go, not sure about it yet, maybe I can try and keep up with you guys!:D someone will have to run as the White Knight!:yikes:

Riding group

As of now, I'm solo and according to Google maps I'll head west along nys thruway to buffalo then probably stay over in Columbus Ohio area first day of travel then head down to Springfield the next day, would also like to make a group ride out of it.

cant wait, might leave tonight!!!!

Yep! I tried to book by phone last week and there was nothing available until the 28th. even
Kev and Joanie couldn't swing it for me...So I'm over on the other side of the road with Charlyne
and Mark at the Lamplighter (which seems to be reputed as less than wonderful!) Ah well...so be it.

Of course if anyone wants to stay at the Lamplighter I'd be happy to swap....

Thanks Joe! At least I can get a decent breakfast at the Steak and Shake next door....I was there every morning in 2014
and do like my bacon and eggs in the morning!! Of course there will be a whole army of Aussies over this year so that'll be fun!!

70/79... That sounds like a plan...
Brent; would that work for you also?

I've been to Missouri via the 70/44 route...
Your route is a bit longer, but DOES look worth some investigation!
It would also allow me to "fill-in" a couple of more States also! :D

Just took a quick look at the map and heading south to the 70/79 interchange doesn't look like it would add much time or mile wise to my route so that would be doable.

Ive never rode it on a bike, but go that way to NC to see my parents. Great views.

Firm up dates

Right now I have a room at the best western from 4/27 through 4/30 leaving Sunday am. I'm thinking of going out a day earlier and arrive Tuesday. If there were any interest, I would look to add on day earlier to my hotel, or find another on nearby.

Once we firm up dates we can get our rooms secured.......
