• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder will not leave Neutral for reverse or forward - any ideas?

So, after a 6 month gap in usage, my 2016 F3T will not engage in either Reverse or Forward gears, just nothing.
Is there a fuse perhaps at fault? Or, what to try?
Thanks much!

(Thanks to you guys, I did just install a NOCO battery and that thing rocks!!)

Basics first....

Do you have the brake pedal depressed?

Since your brake pedal must be depressed, let's test that circuit. With ignition Off, press and release the brake pedal - does the brake light turn on and off? Also, press the Horn button to double-check - it should beep.

If the brake pedal and horn switch are working properly, then we need to test the CANBUS. Start the engine and test all functions of the LHS. If everything works except the paddle shifter, then it could be the LHS (expensive), shift solenoid (not so expensive), or HCM needing fresh oil and filter.

Best wishes.

First, thanks to you guys who made suggestions!

So the brake is depressed and the last oil and filter change was about 200 miles ago.
The horn and brake lights work fine. Although I do not know what a LHS is???

BTW, when the shifter buttons are pressed, there is no sound at all (of course the bike is running though.)

Any more ideas? (That flatbed transport is $350)

LHS = Left Hand Switch. That multi-function switch cluster on your left handlebar. Bert wanted you to test all of the other functions besides the paddle shifter. There has been the occasional failure of that assembly. There was actually a warranty bulletin for the 2018 F3 on it.

Fuse - see page 137 in your operator’s guide. Check the square J case fuse for TCM solenoids. Right side of bike fuse box. Although why it would suddenly blow?

Did the bike shift OK before you changed the battery, or was the other battery dead after the 6 month layoff and you don’t know for sure.

Because it was not run for 6 months, before I trailered it to the dealer, I would let it idle for awhile. At least until the fans cycled once or twice, in order to circulate warm oil through the hydraulic control module. Because you don’t have BUDS, and can’t do a HCM ventilation, that’s the next best thing. Good luck.

Apologies for hijacking the thread

but I can't find where to post a new question. I log in OK, but am still lost. Guidance will be appreciated

At the top of the page where it says Home, Forum, What’s New, (etc), click/tap on Forum. In the list of Forums that appears, click/tap on the Forum you want to start a thread in. On that forum page that appears, look in the upper left for a big red button with black font lettering inside that says + Post New Thread. Just under the advertising banners. Yeah, I know. Click/tap on that, and a blank form will appear for you to write out your question. After you’re finished, you can then Preview it. After that, click/tap Submit New Thread.

Good Advice! :agree: And if you have any difficulties getting it done, just find a post by any of the Moderators (look for the Green Usernames to the left of the post - like mine ;) ) click on the username, then Private Message, and send us a PM asking for help with whatever.

Ps: There's a Forum Support & Testing sub-forum down in the General Discussions Section, linked here:

https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?8-Forum-Support-amp-Testing

Pps: And if you look up toward the Top Right of the screen, any screen, there's a Notifications button between your username and My Profile in the very top forum menu line above the Founder/Owner's logo - click on it to get to your Inbox for PM's, and if it's flashing Red, it'll be telling you that you've got unread PM's in there. ;)
