• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

We are looking around s. Fla. to buy a Spyder. A little confused by the many different model types. Is there a list out there somewhere of what all the letters and numbers designate ?

when i was shopping, my head almost exploded with all the different model letters. :banghead::banghead:

:welcome: This is an exciting (And Scary!) time for you. :2thumbs:
Basically; there are (or will be) four models:
RT: Designed with two-up touring in mind. Has the most luggage capacity.
ST: The model that has "Sport-Touring" in mind... It'll haul you cross-country, but has more of a Sporty DNA...
RS: This is the bike that started it all... It's the Sporty one; built to turn heads, and handle the twisties
F3: The new kid on the Block. A bit of a bare-knuckled brawler, with a cruiser-style seating position.

Within the models, you'll find the sub-models... :yikes:
They are used to differentiate between the various levels of "Goodies", that the bikes come with.
Here's the link to BRP's website; but don't hesitate to ask questions in here! :2thumbs:

Agree..!!

with checking out the web site or getting the catalogs from your dealer. The only other one not mentioned is the RSS which is set up differently than the RS which is the base or original spyder. You also get a feel of the seating and comfort if you visit your dealer and more so if you test ryde them. The other basic difference is the codes SE5/6 (semi automatic 5/6 speed transmission) and the SM5/6 (manual 5/6 speed tansmission). The rest is like stated bells and whistles which goes hand in hand with pricing...happy hunting you will have fun and there is no wrong choice...:2thumbs:

We've all been there... :D
I did spend a bit of yesterday at my dealers. ; I grabbed several 2015 Brochures for interested folks that might stop by...
So, I was already mulling a lot of these things over anyway!

Like Bob said, these are the 4 basic models. Within each are different trim levels, like "S" and "Limited". Then you also have the type of transmission: SE (semiautomatic) or SM (manual).

Have fun shopping. As you look around and need to ask more questions, this is the place to come. Of course, after you buy one, we'll need some pics!!

The above posts have now covered everything about the models. If you find yourself torn between X and Y, then it is time to do test drives on both to find the one that turns your crank the best.

Enjoy. When some of us came on board, there was only the RS with the manual transmission. The problem then was should I get red, yellow, or half moon silver? :roflblack::roflblack:
