• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Recall package

Got my gas cap yesterday after a 80 mile ride I never smell gas but i put the new one on anyway. I do get some vapor smell some days in the garage after riding i think i should get the e-vap checked no sign of that recall yet.

I recieved two gas caps yesterday. One for my 12 RSS and one for my wifes 12 RS. Put them on last night.

Got mine yesterday too. But, it's going to sit in the box until spring. I doubt bad things will happen while the Spyder is sitting in hibernation. Never had the gas smell. Hope that continues. Think I had the evaporation hose re-root done already at an early service. As I recall Carlo called my dealer to make sure they did it for free. Will have the Spyder looked over anyway as the season starts.

Got mine... Still smells like gas !!!

Got my (made in Mexico, shipped from Canada to California) gas cap replacement about a week ago. Filled up the Spyder Monday with the "new" cap and went for a 150 mile ride. Got home and the bike reeked of gas! :banghead: Finally went away after about an hour of sitting in the garage with the door open. So much for the fix.....:gaah: What gives ???:helpsmilie:

If the new cap aggravated or caused a gas fume problem, you have other issues. I expect those would be with the emissions system or the fuel pump/vent assembly. See your dealer. People need to start reporting these issues, so BRP will take notice and find what is happening. Don't take "No" or "Normal" for answers.

new cap stinks

I got my new gas cap today and now I have gas smell, I'm glad I didn't throw away my old one, if smell doesn't stop I am putting old one back on, it didn't have that problem :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Update!! have ran through couple tanks of gas and no problem with gas smell, must have been a fluke that first day or maybe I had a small over flow and did not know it, guess the new cap stays on thanks BRP.

for assistance

Made contact with Can-Am dealer HUGHENDENM40 Thame Oxon UK

Bruce (Service Manager)

Thanks - Fuel Cap arrived safe and sound
I feel alot happier that I have the new Cap

Please accept my thanks for sorting this safety issue out and I will be contacting Can-Am to express all the help
you have given me on this matter

Eddie

Its nice to be able to post a positive response from BRP - Long may it continue

Got mine Friday. I always thought mine wasn't closing tight enough. The clicker never had enough resistance. This new cap makes me feel better after I fill up.

Got both of mine too. They came within 2 days of each other. Have not put them on yet, and after reading some of the posts here I may not bother. no problems with either machine, so I may leave well enough alone.

Recall Fuel Cap obtained in UK - Safety Recall Notice in Post Today

Posted in an earlier thread I have now got my New fuel Cap :-

Received a letter in the post today from BRP European Distribution Ltd

It was the Safety Recall Notice

It confirms we are to get the New Fuel Cap (Free of Charge)
and to contact an authorised BRP Can-Am dealer to advise them you need a new and improved Fuel Cap

Or To make an appointment to have your fuel cap replaced
it will take less than 10mins and again (at no charge to us)

It's pleasing to think BRP have taken our concerns seriously and are contacting owners at last
even though I have already got mine

Maybe things with BRP Europe are looking up
Still need to keep the pressure on though
