• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

This would be for those of you who drive standard transmission cars. Haven ryden our RS now for some time and keeping the Rotax purring at high rpms I find myself doing the same with my VW Sportswagen. Problem is the VW redlines at 6000 while the roadster redlines at 9000. I find myself cruising in 4th when I should be in 5th. Happen to any of you..?? :dontknow:

Nope, I have a dummy light that tells me to shift.

When i went to the Tri-Glide 103 from the Spyder, I kept on smacking into the red line[52 hundred] Couldn't get out of that habit, So i had the Tri's Red line reprogrammed to 63 hundred. I had a few Beatles the ones with out radiator caps' over the years, I think maybe 5 grand was their limit,...
When the Japenees first started sending bikes over here, They couldn't understand why Americans shifted their bikes so early [low rev's]. :dontknow:

Redline

My Bugatti Veyron shift at 6000 RPM, almost the same as the Spyder so I don't fell a difference ;)

Dave ;)

Mine seems to run out of fuel after about 12 minutes when going fast but you have covered quite a distance...:joke:

Off to the side kinda note. I had a Honda accord 5 speed and a truck automatic. Problem came when I got out of the Honda and then jump into the truck I would slam on the brake trying to push in a clutch that wasn't there!!!
:roflblack::opps:

Don't have that problem. Our RTs are SM5. I shift by engine sound. Same with the 18 speed Kenworth. Silverado and Impala are automatics.

My PT Cruiser is a stick-shift. They recommend shifting about 1800-2000. I've finally learned to rev the RTS more. I use the tach on the Spyder, but can go by the sound in the car. I hate having to keep looking down while I'm ryding in town.:yikes: I hope I'll learn the Spyder engine sound eventually.

I took a trip to the black hills last year and we took atv 's and the spyder. We toured the hills on the bike for 2 days and then rode atv' s for 2 days. I volunteered to ride the Honda with push button shifting and let my girlfriend ride the kawasaki automatic so she could focus on navigating not ****ting gears (her first time riding a atv). On the spyder you do not let off of the throttle to shift and on the Honda, you HAVE to let off of the throttle!!! Try switching back and forth on those two :yikes:
