• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

spyder hitch and wiring with bushtec trailer

what is needed to pull a bushtec trailer with 2012 RTLtd with OEM hitch and 6pin plug? Sure it is here somewhere but can't find it. Thanks

Isolater

My understanding is that the Spyders are finicky about lighting. There may not be a trailer harness installed on your bike. If it is a BRP connection it is a 4 prong made for their trailer. I installed an isolator (Show Chrome Accessories 41-162 Trailer Wire Harness) on my 2015 RT-S to pull an Escapade trailer. Does great. Also have to buy the connection end to match your trailer.

I too have a Bushtec trailer. I used the CanAm hitch with Bushtecs pin and had Bushtec do the electrical wiring and harness on my Spyder.

One of our members, Ursamajor, used a Can-Am wiring harness for his Bushtek trailer, although it doesn't light all of the lights. Big Bike Parts sells an isolated wiring harness that has 4 lighting circuits plus ground, which I believe is all the Bushtek uses. You'll have to google to find the appropriate connectors.

Bushtec with Can Am Hitch and isolator

I have pulled Bushtec Turbo II behind '09 GS, '12 RT-S, and now '15 RT-L with Can Am hitch and Bushtec pin with no trouble.
Wiring harness on GS is The Electrical Connection isolator relay, '12 Can Am wiring harness, and '15 with isolator relay.
Connected my 6 pin to the 4 wire isolator harness, a ground, and the 6 wire for the Bushtec interior light to a fused wire to battery.
Many miles of happy pulling the Bushtec. Happy Trails.
