• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now find some one that can adjust price for parts without the blazend HD logo & knock a M or two off that number!:shemademe_smilie: Im sure that includes the tech hourly rate too:banghead:

They all have problems...

To often it depends on who made the study and where it was made. :dontknow: thanks for the post does help make others feel better...

It's not just Harley...
(And it seems as if they always get the target pinned to their chests...)
Anything designed and built by us; can be buggered-up by us! :banghead:

No I Don't!

Not sure where the title of this thread come from. I have no experience with Spyders having problems. Close to 26000 miles and the only time a mechanic has looked at it was for scheduled maintenance, or mandated recalls, that did not effect my bike but needed to be done by the dealer. I can't imagine a more reliable machine. You know what they say about Harley's, "Almost half the Harley's Ever made are still on the road........the other half made it home!:roflblack:

I guess I have been very fortunate. Been riding since 1965. Have owned over 40 assorted rice burners. Never had HD, German models, or Italian bikes.

Never had mechanical issues with any of them. My favorites were Honda and Kawasaki even though I had three each of Yamaha, and Suzuki.

Five :spyder2::ani29::spyder2::ani29::spyder2: and I can also say the same.

don't care about harley since i don't have one, compare it to my subaru or my gmc safari van

They aren't the same beast. Motorcycles are very different choice than cars, and with that choice comes an increased level of maintenance and a greater likelihood that they may be imperfect and require adjustments. It is usually safer to purchase a known model, which also tends to mean that we won't have the latest and greatest, but rather a more proven design. For the many complaints about BRP's failure to make major improvements every year on some models, there is a lot to be said for a 2016 RT owner who has two years of history behind their design.

Guess you must have missed the DESS & all the 2013 Heat Complaints!

The key isn't really the complaints or problems, it's more of does the manufacturer step up to the plate and take care of them and the consumer in a timely manner. Something BRP has never been all that good at....[emoji57]

Speaking only of the recent 2013 RT debacle for a moment...
In this instance; BRP was working within emissions and noise requirements, as well as customer expectations about their bikes...
It would have been easy to just remove bodywork... the customers would have been unhappy...
They could have removed the catalytic converter: the EPA sure would have noticed that one! :D
In my opinion; they did a pretty good job of turning a "Lemon", into a real "Peach.".. from the inside out!

Hopefully; it taught them some good lessons about getting it right; the first time! :2thumbs:

Regarding the 2013's, while the final result does seem to be great, it is something that they took far too long to acknowledge or address (I understand the time to actually fix it). It was the slowness of their response and the difficulties so many people were having here that reflected far worse on the company than the heat issue itself.

I do hope that they've learned a lesson, and will address issues like this more proactively and openly in the future. They certainly know how to provide great service, as they also have for many of us here.

It's unquestionably very difficult to handle a recall level malfunction for any company. I hope if something like this happens again that they act quickly without the need for a government order or government supervision.

Yep

We really do miss that. Our bike runs cooler now than it did before the recall, but the heat was never a problem. We took it in for the work, and love the result, but we really loved the motorcycle before and after the recall!
