Something I HATE about the Spyder!

I ride my Spyder every day 64 mles round trip on dirty ass LA freeways! Doesnt mean it needs to look like it! Sounds like some are lazy and dont care to keep a $20K+ ride looking good

I saw a spyder RT the other day that looked like it had been through hell! I don't think it had been ever washed or cared for. The plastic dash, etc was not black anymore but a dingy gray... To each his own I guess.

My two cents

Not sure why most post long time washing the Spyder, I simply rinse and wash with a little Turtle Car Wash with an ounce of windshield washer in warm water in a bucket. Rinse again, dry with a leaf blower and its done, looks good every-time, takes @ thirty minutes from start to finish. I've used this method for over twenty years on all my motorcycles, cars and now my trike. No water spots are left from washing using this method, it's my method works for me might work for you and cut down your workload; just my two cents.

Hey, we're all different. A basic wash and dry...no spots anywhere. Takes me a couple hours minimum. But, I'm old and broke. Getting up and down simply ain't no fun. If, I'm detailing the entire spyder, cleaning and waxing inside and out of everything. It's a two day job for me. To each his own. But, to me. It comes down to pride of ownership. That said, when I'm on a trip......I don't fret over it. Unless I'm laying over for a day. Then I'll put enough time in to keep it presentable.

I have a nice jack that I lift mine up with. Makes the cleaning much easier. The rear wheel is a pain

I use Turtle Wax Ice for waxing. It is clear and leaves no white wax residue. It can be used on black plastic parts and gives it a shine. Easy on easy off application. No elbow grease required. It takes me about 1/2 hour to wax my Spyder.

I am going to have to try the turtle wax ice. Right now I have been using turtle wax carnuba that I had in the garage. Lots of buffing to get out once applied. The pledge furniture polish sounds interesting too....

Again one thing many may not relate to is black color! It shows everything on it unlike some of the other colors. So something you can run around and wipe down easily every now and then would make it easier for sure.

I had 17,300 miles on my 2010, when I traded it in.
I had two riding seasons shortened:
One for foot surgery
One by accident... pps:
I ride every possible day that I can; even with a full-time career that seems unending... :shocked:

I can attest to that if you look at his poor old spyder up for sale.
But with so few pictures of him and his spyder we never know how dirty it ever was?
With all the farkling, I doubt it was ever left looking like a pig!

There are many people on this forum with many different backgrounds. No need for your background to judge what other people do, or don't do.

That's pretty harsh commentary. I have been called a lot of things in my life, but never "lazy". It's all a matter of priorities. If showing off a shiny Spyder makes you happiest, go for it. I'd personally prefer to spend that hour riding. I dust with a California Duster, and keep the windshield clean, but the rest gets attention only when it really needs it (like after a mud bath) or when I have more time on my hands than I know what to do with. If I scrubbed every one of our 32 vehicles every time we used them, I' wouldn't even have time to eat. Just because others don't follow your credo, it certainly doesn't mean we are lazy...just focused elsewhere. nojoke

There may well be owners who are "lazy". Who are we to judge? If it makes them happy, and they are satisfied, we should be happy for them. If a finely detailed machine makes another owner happy, that's great, too. Lots of things drive us...all in slightly different directions. It would be a dull world if we were all the same. Ride it/polish it, go fast/go slow, RS/ST/RT, OEM/lots of mods....we are all Spyder brethren and there is room for us all.
