There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. some baby questions...

I am in the process of buying a Spyder (RS, 2009). Can anyone tell me what the average mpg you have experienced? How hard is it to park one of these beautiful machines? A regular parking spot?

Thanks! I can't wait - soooo impatient...:gaah:

For an RS/GS:

30-32 MPG on Interstate with touring windshield at 75 MPH.
38 MPG doing 45-50 MPH tooling around back roads.

That is my experience anyway.

Too cool, thanks!

I have a Miata, so that's easy to picture (she's in the driveway, wasting away - I need to put in a new clutch or gear box. I don't have a place to put her up so I can get my hands dirty).

Next question.. will she (the Spyder) fit on a normal trailer? I have a trailer (lowbed, for carrying wood and stuff), that the MP3 fit. It's a little narrower than the truck (my husband has a Nisson Frontier), so not sure I'll be able to trailer her home. Of course, I could ride her, but it's all highway (and it is a different ride).

:clap::2excited:

arourd 30mpg here also, trailer needs to be 6feet wide, gives a little wiggle room. 10 to 12 feet long. lower the bed the better, or have to have long ramp.

That's pretty consistent. Sounds like you keep great records (I do that too).

Thanks! I need to call the dealership tomorrow (they are closed Sunday and Monday), so I can see that the machine is tagged as mine. Still need to do financial stuff, but that baby is meant to be mine.

The dealership is awesome - I fell in love in the place immediately. Kelley is awesome, someone I feel good about working with.

I'm glad I found this forum too. Great place!

Trailer -- if it is 5 ft. wide there won't be any problem.
Gas mileage -- like everybody says, plan on 30 mpg and be happy if you do better. Sadly, there is no way you can claim that buying a Spyder is to save on gas. My car actually gets better gas mileage than the Spyder.;)
Parking -- easier than a car or motorcycle because you can see your front wheels and with reverse you don't need to worry about parking on an incline.
MP3 -- I traded a Piaggio MP3 for my Spyder. I have to admit that the MP3 was more fun to ride and handled much better, but even the 500cc was too light and not well suited for the highway or for longer rides. If there was a way to do it and stay married, I would have kept the Piaggio. Trading it in was not my idea.:shemademe_smilie:

The width of the RT is just a tad over 5' at 61.9". You'll need plenty of trailer width to pull in facing forward and to get the front wheels past the trailer wheel wells, if it's an open trailer.

I get around 32 mpg around town with my 2008 RS and still over 30 when pulling my trailer behind it. I use the trailer a lot around town running errands. As for trailering the Spyder, you really want 6' x 10' to have enough room with clearance all around. I managed to get mine on a 5' wide trailer once, but I had to have 2 guys pulling the sides of the trailer outward to clear the spokes on the wheels. I definitely agree a lower trailer is much better. I have a Kendon that rides great, and it stands up in my garage and takes very little space! As for parking, I also agree Spyders are real easy to park. My Spyder and trailer actually both fit in most parking spots!

...A pretty steady 33mpg... but I probably ride a lot slower...;) Parking is so easy that it's actually a non-issue... It's a lot narrower than any cage, and as long as the front wheels will fit...:2thumbs:

I measured the trailer this afternoon (first day in about seven where it stopped raining).

The Spyder is 59.4 inches across, and the trailer is 58 inches across..

update

Update -- the dealership (love South Texas Suzuki) will deliver her to the house Saturday evening. They'll bring all the paperwork. I got good financing (6.9% for 60 months) - I can make the payments with ease.

So, Sunday morning (god willing and it's not pouring), I should be riding down my road. It's smack in the middle of hill country, so I can take the back roads until I'm cool with the steering/braking, etc.

I can't wait!!!!!

gonna be a long day tomorrow.

:agree: I get better mileage tooling the back roads cause I never use 5th gear at 45-50.
