I had to finally give up on the Rivco Heal Toe Shifter for my RS SM5 manual. Using Rivco floorboards to change my seating position means the stock shifter is too low to get my foot under. With the Rivco shifter, I experienced problems shifting into 2nd and tried everything I could to get it working every time. I ordered an 8 Leg Designs extension off EBay from Contant_BRP for about $70. The installation was easy and the piece was built solid. I just took it for a 30 ride and I'm happy with it. No shifting problems like I had with the Rivco shifter and it's a comfortable position. If you look at the pictures, I need to use the tounge of my shoe to shift. It's a pretty short movement from that spot. So far so good!
