• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Canyon Redrock vs '22 F3S - Demo day ride/comparison

Our local dealer had a demo day ride for the Spyders today so I booked a Canyon Redrock, I had test driven a Sea to Sky last year.

Canyon Redrock
Seat is higher and the cushion is harder, you sit more upright and your pegs and legs are right below your butt. If you have occasional 2 up riding the passenger seat definitely looks more comfortable than it was on my F3S. The seated position is similar to a quad or off road bike.

Handlebars have a factory riser and were in the right place for me, sitting with a slight slouch.

Windshield was adequate, my Gustafson is taller and wider so slightly better wind protection.

Display was okay and contained more functions for adjustability and information display etc. pretty much a wash for me. I don't use the phone or music etc.
The handlebar switches: left and right are much more cluttered and require a bit of learning; overall okay
Reverse function is better than the 2 step older style.

3 bags come with this package and are easy to remove and look clean when removed. Plenty of space for a road trip and the helmet fits in the back top bag. No frunk.
The bike sits taller so it has more ground clearance and the bottom is more enclosed to reduce gravel flying into the belt and sprocket. It is easier to rock when standing than the F3S.

The suspension hits a home run. This bike had the Smart shocks and they are a phenomenal improvement over my Stage 2 Elkas.
We have pavement cracks that heave upwards and cause the F3S to have a choppy ride and sometimes have a hopping motion if the heaves are close together.
I didn't check to see where the shocks were set but I was in Sport mode on the engine selection. These shocks smoothed out the heaves, potholes etc. to the extent that when I braced myself for a jar, nothing more than a slight flutter was felt.
We were in a group ride, so I wasn't able to judge how the Canyon cornered at speed, but around town with the odd spirited corner it felt just as solid as the F3S. Even though some have commented on the lean, it was nothing unusual for me and the smart shocks measure yaw (side to side lean) and pitch (back to front) and adjust for anything instantly so I wouldn't be surprised if they are flatter at speed in the corners than the Elka 2's.
The tires look more off roady and I hope they wear evenly and don't cup like offroad pickup tires, since tire rotation wouldn't work.

Steering effort was the same as my F3S.

Transmission shifting was similar to the F3S at partial and full throttle.

My F3S has just turned 6000 miles or 10,000 km so it is in premium condition.
The seating position is more cruiser style with legs forward and the seat slightly lower.
I have full foot supports that I built and I usually ride with my left leg back and my right just behind the brake pedal. The Canyon is completely open with just the driver and passenger foot pegs.
I have a cat bypass pipe with custom baffles so the exhaust tone is louder and I have Monster Stage 2 tune so my bike is very responsive, especially at highway speeds. I didn't check to see if the gearing on the F3S is the same as the Canyon. My guess it is??

Overall, the Canyon Redrock is a winner for me with a 9.9 score. The reason for the 0.1 deduction is the price. Hope this info helps. 🤑 JMO
