• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sigh. Rounded out oil tank plug

Even having the right tools and knowing what to expect, I managed to round out the oil tank plug. Not sure if it's BRP using the cheapest parts they can get away with or the dealer using a pneumatic air hammer to tighten it when they did the break in service.

No problem with the crankcase plug. No problems with the filter covers.

Off to order some Gold Plugs...

Bummer..!!

sometimes its a one shot deal. Hot oil on threads can crystalize like locktite. If you don't tap on it to break it loose and get a good stiff pull with a good socket allen you will strip it out....not sure why they go with allens and torx other than recessed but they have the room...:banghead:

Now the one to really watch is the radiator drain plug...:yikes:

Mechanical advantage

In addition to the coolant acting like locktite, compare the size of the Allen portion of the plug to the diameter of the plug that contacts the motor or tank. The Allen is much smaller, thus giving the plug the mechanical advantage. The Allen will wring out most of the time.
