• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

998cc Should I worry about this Oil Level and Color on A 998?

Changed my oil and filters on my 998 over the winter. I always get BajaRon’s filter kit. I use Mobil 1 10-40 that is JASO-MA2 compliant. So this season I have put just over 500 miles on my Spyder. I check the oil regularly, and ALWAYS when hot. After a long ride, I let the bike idle 30 seconds or so, and then check the oil. So far this season, the oil checks exactly at the full mark, and is still just as clear and light brown as it was the day I put it in this past March. I remember reading on here that it takes the 998 20,000 miles to get fully broken in. Mine has 29,000. Last year, I had to add oil occasionally. But this year, as I said, the level hasn’t changed and oil is still clean and clear. Bike runs beautifully and SE5 is shifting smooth as butter. Should I worry?

:yikes:

I guess I don't get your position. You Spyder is running perfectly. Why would you worry?

:agree: At only 500 miles of riding in the season, you really haven't run your Spyder enough to either use any oil or generate any contaminants, let alone cause the oil to discolour thru picking up those contaminants! :lecturef_smilie:

So AFAICS, the ONLY thing that you have to worry about, altho this is a pretty BIG thing, is that:

You are clearly not riding enough!! :yikes:

So as I recall seeing somewhere on the Forum before, I reckon there's only ONE thing you really need to do to remedy
this absolutely appalling state of affairs, and that is:

Get Out There - and Ride More, Worry Less!! :ohyea:
