• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Service warranty?

In addition to the extended warranty that would add 3 years to the already 2-yr original warranty, the dealer also said they have a 'service warranty' for $699 that pays for all the services., I think he said for 2 years. Has anyone heard of that and if so do you have any thought if this would be worth it? For example how much is the 600 service. I thought I'd call the dealer and ask him what they charge for that 600 mi too.

My husband says he can do the oil/filter changes.

I can tell you at PMS the 600 mile service was $200+ . I have also heard that other routine maintenance visits can be as high as $800 at some dealers. If you are mechanically incline then I say save the money and do some work yourself. You will find that there is a wealth of knowledge amonst the forum members and they are always willing to share.

My 600 mile service was $285 - I was told we had to have it down at dealership to maintain warranty. After that as long as we kept receipts for oil and filters and kept record of maintenance, we could do ourselves (or anywhere else).

The cost of the 6k and 12k service will jump significantly because they need to check the valves, and that can be time consuming. Seeing as how I really hate even changing the oil on the Spyder I bought the VIP service program from my dealer. It includes covering the cost of the next 6 services and lifetime oil changes anytime I want. Worth it in my personal opinion.

:agree:Being mechanically challenged, it was the only way to go for me. Cost was close to $900 but 600 mile service was over $300 so I feel it will pay for itself.

It will not void your warr. if a dealer does not do it.I had a car last week that had its first oil change at 25k,now it knocks, they think its under warr. They lost that fight.
Check to see what the extended warr. covers, they are well worth the the money!!!!!
