• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Serious problem with 2012 RTS

The problem began near there, Lebanon but we are back home near St. Louis. Having some trouble finding trained Sypder folks but working on it---Thanks so much for the information and help!

It would be worth the drive to Springfield MO. You have Pitbull Powersports there. Their lead mech Chris is top notch.

Cuba/Springfield

Not really very far from Cuba. Springfield will be about a 250 mile round trip. Might be a Spyderfest repair. We are getting close.

Sounds like water in the fuel.
Take the plastic off and get it running.
spray starting fluid around but, not in the carb. and see if that gives you any change.
You say the fuel is good, what does that mean?
Drain the fuel tank put 4oz of clear rubbing alcohol and fill it with fuel. then start it and see if it gets better

I am going with a vacuum hose that has a pinhole leak. There is one that goes into the TB...took my tech forever to find it.

Update to my Serious Problem post

Bike is running well now. Got it away from it's tormenter and it's home again. Paid big money to have some mods done by what I was told was a very fine local speed shop for motorcycles. This was a giant BS trip from beginning to end. Paid for a Power Commander installation and after market exhaust install. Only part that was done well was the exhaust. The breakdown and fun after appears to have been related to the Evap Purge Valve unit. After it was disconnected from power, engine started and ran fine. Reconnecting power had no bad effect, engine ran fine still.

Engine runs good. The Power Command V installed has no effect on performance so guessing the "speed shop" didn't know how to set tunes either. Lesson well learned by me.

Anyone know of a fix for this Evap Purge Valve situation--perhaps a means of deleting it entirely?

Many thanks to all for the fine advice----------problem got fixed after I relayed your information to our "speed shop" operator---------could not have solved without this forum!!!

No codes

Why don't we see if there are any active codes, before we start trying to diagnose the problem? :banghead:

Oddly after this forum showed us how to pull up codes none showed---------oddly when Evap Purge Valve was disconnected from power lead engine ran fine. Reconnecting the EPV had no effect--engine still ran fine-have no idea what happened. Think our speed shop operator got advice on the EPV from a Fenton Missouri shop manager---------home now.
