There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Sena Bluetooth Dongle Question

2RTsGV

New member
Amazon is selling the Sena Bluetooth Dongle for $114
My questions are:
1. has anyone bought one of these and does it work on spyder?
2. is there anything else that is needed, to get this to work on the spyder?

Any and all advise is appreciated

Dongle

If the Dongle you are pricing is the SM10 Model yes it will work all you need is the cable assembly to go the dongle mounted in the rear trunk and the radio connector. I have made up several cable assemblies and offer them to members at cost plus shipping. Dongle mounts in the rear Trunk. See the following Post I did.

I also include instructions for the install.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

I can recommend Doc's cable I had the recent pleasure of meeting him and his good lady wife on my visit to the USA

Be aware that if you have CB you will loose that.

Also if you have the BRP XM radio you will need a different cable.

You don't need a different cable if the P2 connector is installed

It is true that if you have the CB installed you will lose that function and the wired factory headsets. If you have the CB and XM Radio install or just the XM Radio install you do not lose the XM Radio when you depin the CB Radio. I've done this Mod to Members RT and it functions with no issues. He never used the CB.

Thanks for responses

Thank you to all for the responses.

thanks for the offer to create the cable. In looking at the link you provided for hooking it up, I in fact could see myself messing up royally with the wiring, as anything electrical is not forte.

JC:
I appreciate the offer for the used dongle and while the price point is attractive I will decline for now, mainly as I am in the research stage and not ready to tackle this add-on just yet. It appears though that you have another member who could make use of it right now (alas my snoozing = my losing). Also when I do have this mod done I will have 2 bikes to do.

I was hoping that this undertaking would have been a simple plug and play though from the responses it actually looks like this might not be the case and it may be a job for the dealer.. Additionally my wife and I both use the Scala Rider G9 headsets but on the plus side, thus far I am learning that the G9 will tune into the dongle.

Once again, thanks for the responses and the offers.

Take care

thats the combo my wife and I use...

The completed cables are very easy to install. The first one on my RT-S (didnt want to risk the wife's RT-S) took me 30 minutes. Most of that time spent looking at it from different angles. The second install took all of 10 minutes and that included drilling the hole into the trunk for the cable(s).

Pairing the Sena SM10 with the Scala G9s was very easy. Only recommendation I would make is be sure the headset is turned on before you turn on your spyder. If you power up in that order, it never fails. If you forget, turn the spyder off and let it set for a minute or 2 then turn it on.

On a humorous note... The Scala headsets increase the audio volume when it detects road or wind noise. I guess my singing and whistling with the tunes constitutes road noise... :)
