There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Seat Modification

Wheeler~

RT-S PE#0311
I was told a horror story last week about a rider who had a problem with the back of his drivers seat pressing against the lowest part of his back and against the sciatic nerve and supposedly, due to not addressing the problem earlier, some vein in this guys hip had to be removed.

I'm finally having about 3 inches cut out of the back of the drivers portion of the RT's seat because I'm having the same problem as it numbs me from the sciatic nerve to my knees. I have the Scuff Guard foot pegs, and love them, but still have the same numbing problem. I'm hoping this will be the cure so I wont have to change seats.

I'll let you know how it goes, as a couple other members have said they are experiencing similar problems. I'll try to include pics!

Seat issue.

Does the numb feeling only happen when you are sitting on the bike?

Yes, it's the only time it bothers me! I'll be very curious to see if the seat modification really eliminates the problem. I've been told by a few reputable sources it should be the answer I'm looking for.

I am having mine refoamed and covered in leather by a local custom seat guy. He will reshape the seat for me then recover it when I'm happy. Should start next week. The stock seat does a number on my lower spine and pushes the wrong pressure points. Had my Harley Ultra seat done the same way and it was perfect after.

I may be a little vane but I don't want to get a new seat because of my Special Edition seat monogram. I think the embroidery looks good and I get asked what it means a lot! If this doesn't work, I will have to go the route of a new seat also. Sure hope this works!

i also have to cut a lot away this week - i want to come more to the backside - and i want my passenger deeper and nearer to me - to drive over the mountains we need better contact) on the other side i always have to move up my windshield beause she sits too high and she gets all the air on her helemt .. maybe someone has a pic from a sport-seat for the RT ?

I hope it works to stop the pain!

I get the sam pain myself, and if this is the cure for it I'll have mine done too.

When I have mine done, I'm having the PE Embroidering stay where it is and leather the rest.

If the mod I'm having done doesn't work, I may consider the same or just buy the new RT Corbin seat. Are you just having foam removed?

I was also surprised to see the center seat seams are velcro to the foam which is secured to the seat bottom. I thought just GM and Chrysler did that type of upholstery work!

same problem with my lower back and the pressure from the seat, Utopia back rest on order, not sure that will solve my problem, I think removing some foam from is the answer. can you remove some of the foam and still use the utopia ? the instructions are specific as to where to mount the bracket 2" from lower seat backrest. also butt buffer on order

Butt Buffer?? Got a link for that?

However, I don't think that will help, I have one and the pressure points are still there, just softer. I still have to change up every hour or so to make the trip. Cutting the foam to fit (deeper), making the sides alittle wider and pushing back the lumbar support alittle will do the trick. That's what worked for me in the past, I'll let you know how this one works soon.

Another seat repair option

Rick Mayer Cycle makes fantastic seat modifications. He is the son of the famous seat maker Bill Mayer. Rick is an ex-critical care nurse and learned how to make bedding for severely traumatized and burn victims using different types of foam. He is really good at taking your seat and dealing with your medical needs as well as making great looking seats.

he also makes rain covers.

Butt Buffer

My ? is what size butt buffer do I get for the BRP comfort seat. I tried the Corbin and had to sell it, lost my butt on that one. The Corbin saddle was fine for me, but every time I went down a hill or but on the brakes my wife was siding up against me and I would have to hold her back. The Corbin is not made to ride two up. The comfort seat is much better, but I still need something for the wet plants thing.:chill:

Hmmmm.... I thought my right leg that gets numb about 50 miles into a ride was just my body (Worked it really to hard for to many years before realizing it) not being able to handle the angle my leg was at. So I keep switching from the HWY pegs and the factory pegs every ten minutes or so...

Now that I read this post it makes me curious if this is what is causing it. Never even thought about it till now.

I will be watching this thread to see how it all turns out. Maybe Corbin (Or someone) will get a wave of new orders as a result :dontknow:

I called butt buffer and they told me large is what most spyder riders are buying. They have large with spider web in stock. Good luck

Just talked to the shop doing the mod on my seat and they think being finished by Friday is a real possibility. We have the Kissimmee Bike Festival this weekend so it would get tested right away. As any of you folks out there, experiencing the same problem can agree, if it works, It will make riding the complete pleasure package! I've got my fingers crossed!

Review to follow!

Seat Mod Evaluation

I will post pics tomorrow along with pics of the new HMT taillight I'm having installed tomorrow morning.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE! For me, the 3 1/2" I had cut and tapered to the back of the driver portion of the seat was the answer I was looking for. NO DISCOMFORT AT ALL! I rode 53 miles without any pain or numbness. First time ever!

It also left more than enough room for my wife in the passenger seat. I actually thought I'd be sitting against her and there's at least 3" between she and I. It also made the location off the Scuff Guards much more comfortable too.

I hope this helps others suffering from the same problem. I know it's made all the difference in the world to me!!!!
