Need to Adjust Seat Backwards after dealer visit - any hints on DIY?

Had my 2016 Spyder RT Ltd since spanking new, and a couple of weeks ago the Limp Home Mode came on.
Long story short, after 3 times of bringing the Spyder into my local dealer for service (yes, 3 times), there are now scuffs and gouges in the plastic cowling below the instrument cluster as well as the seat is pressed right up against the glove box.
Can no longer open/close the glove box without having to lift the seat to allow space (had NO PROBLEM opening/closing the glove box with the seat down before).

Wondering if anyone knows how to adjust the stock seat backwards about 1/2 inch-ish so I can open the glovebox without having to lift the seat.

I'm frustrated with the local dealership in my city for their lack of professionalism, so will try to do this myself.

I can understand your frustration with the dealer, but I'm not at all sure you'll be able to do too much 'adjusting'?! :banghead:

The only real things that hold/locate the seat fore & aft are the pivot bolts at the very back (which I don't recall having much movement in them at all - but make sure you cover the 'black holes' underneath them before doing any work back there if you try! :sour: ) and there's the latch pin up front, but I seriously doubt that it could vary the fore & aft positioning all that much at all, cos the seat base is pretty solid and fixed at those rear pivot points!! :dontknow:

I'd be checking elsewhere too - I wonder if the techs have somehow stuffed up the fitting of the front tupperware, or not put the glovebox back on properly??

Yes, you can adjust the seat back by loosening the 2 bolts at the back of the seat. If you do this, I would remove the passenger back pad. There are 3 screws that hold the rear back pad on. This gives you alot more room to get at the 2 bolts for the seat. The bolts/nuts are 10mm. I would loosen bolts enough to let push seat back. It is possible they adjusted the latching bolt so they could close seat. Overall an easy adjustment. Bruce

Yeah, I already tried loosening those 2 10mm pivot bolts with no success of wiggling the seat backwards at all.
I didn't try removing the rear seat backrest, though, as I can easily access those 2 bolts from the back of the seat (where the passenger's bum would be).
Maybe I'll try removing the backrest and try again.

It's very likely that the last person to tighten one or both of those bolts got a little carried away and now the mount is deformed not allowing it to slide. It's all plastic of some form or another so care must used.

Just a thought; did you have the seat raised when trying to wiggle it backwards? Just to be sure it is not the latch bolt under the seat that keeps it in the "locked" position.

If you look at the witness marks where the latch bolt is currently mounted, you might even see the previous mounting spot. Since both that latch bolt and the two rear bolts have (or should have) fore and aft adjustable grooves if all three are loosened slightly, disconnect the seat strut from the bottom of the seat (quite possibly the hardest part of this task, prying the keeper clip off the seat bottom end of the strut), pax back rest off, you should be able to slide the seat back enough to clear the glovebox lid, tighten the back bolts, then open the seat and tighten the latch bolt, check open and closing, re-attach the seat strut and backrest.

The dealer may have adjusted the LOCKING pin, and this will prevent actual movement fore & aft of the seat itself.... I recommend NOT removing the pin .... it locates the seat on the FRAME ....Mike :thumbup:
