• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT vs RS

Agreed...it's mostly an age thing. The younger crowd likes the RS, the older folk like the RT (talk about a generalization)...it's the simple difference of luxury and sofa comfort vs. sporty and fun...

I ryde really only with two wheelers...no problems as I more than keep up with them...

I really prefer the RS as well. Again I think it a largely age gap discussion. I think your 20s to young 30s riders would sport Spyders more often. But they can get 2 wheelers a lot cheaper, and they are "faster", I think part of the way to really sell more RS's would be to market them toward adults that have 20 year old kids that want a bike. They would be basically paying the xtra cash for insurance in my opinion.

Just a thought if marketing is watching!

:D

Lets bring this post back .

Lets all be honest here. How many that posted here that they love there RS have since switched to the RT ????

No way. Lamont say it isn't so ? Man if I could of afforded to keep my RS it would still be in the garage ! But realistically I don't think it would get much use as 90% of my riding (12-15,00 miles a year ) is two-up and I know there isn't a hope in HE double hockey sticks that the wife would go back to the RS ( which could be a good thing ) The one thing I miss the most on the RS is the sportiness of the ride and how quick it was off the line. All that being said, we just drove 8 hours 479 miles to Americade and boy do I love the comfort of the RT. We pulled our RT622 as well and I would have to be careful because it pulls so well you don,t even know its there .

I still have my RS, still love my RS, 2 years, 2 weeks...37,000 something miles...my RS is not going anywhere...except to Durango in 8 days......see y'all there

I do like what I did to my RS- added Corbin seat, backrest, topbox and saddlebags. Also did bar pullbacks and footpegs to transform her into a cruiser. Still super sporty but great for the long haul too.

I'm gonna have to agree with the age thing. I'm young and I wanted the "look" over comfort. I wanted it to have an aggressive and sporty flavor. I even told my wife that when I get older, I'll get the "older style". Those were the thoughts in my head when I was shopping.

I personally had not even given the Spyder a second look until the RT was introduced. Liked the look of the RS, but that where it ended for me. The riding position simply does not appeal to me. I'm not an aggressive rider, and been riding decked out touring bikes for 15 years. Once the Spyders started playing in the market that interests me, I became a customer.

I like the fact that this basically same bike (RS & RT)can appeal to 2 totally separate riding styles. Good marketing indeed.

I purchased my Spyder in 2011 so I had the choice to choose an RT or an RS. I carefully looked at and test drove both. Quite frankly I didn't like either. To me the RT was just too much of a Lincoln Town car; huge, heavy, non-sporty, and expensive, but it was incredibly comfortable. By contrast the RS was sleek, fast, sporty, mean, and affordable, but quite uncomfortable. I pondered this dilemma and came to the conclusion that I could never make the RT sporty but I could make the RS comfortable. And that's exactly what I did. So for me it worked out perfectly. I'm sure you all have your own story.

So for all of us it's simply a personal preference. Some of use prefer luxury cars, others prefer sports cars. It's apples and oranges, we wouldn't compare these two so why bring the RT vs RS thing up again? It just divides our community.

Bottom line is that we all should be grateful there is both an RT and an RS. I wouldn't own a Spyder if there was only an RT and many of you wouldn't own a Spyder if there was only an RS. So we should never make this an issue, a comparison, a controversy, a contest, or especially an us verses them. What it is is a choice. We, as the Spyder community, should fully support both designs regardless of our personal preference because our numbers would be far fewer without the choice.
