• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:agree:

But WHERE can an owner get a copy of each to maintain his own library of SBs and Warranty items? The reason is it seems some Dealers are not even aware of some of the things we at SpyderLovers are! Gotta love THIS site! :2thumbs:

Front page of SpyderLovers has most of the big ones listed in PDF :doorag:

As usual Lamont, you are on top of things!

Have I mentioned how nice it is to work with a group of professionals again?

SB 2010-7 Question

:helpsmilie:SB 2010-7 pdf on home page is Radio Antenna, Rubber Grommets, Rear Suspension, Fault codes not SB New Brake Pads as listed. I'm very interested if there is an SB for New Brake Pads. How 'bout listing all SB's for us techs away from dealers with service departments? This would be very helpful as my closest dealer doesn't have a clue.
Keep the good information comin'..

SB 2010-7 brake pads

Ok, This bulletin is not a recall or a safety claim but covers a new 3rd generation brake pad that helps eliminate excessive noise. BRP may cover these under warranty if a unit is low miles and still under warranty. Main thing here is that if you have a lot of brake noise there is a fix. The new BRP pads are updated with a vibration damper that rests against the back side of the caliper. Claims are being filed as follows.

1-Your brakes are making excessive noise
2-unit under warranty and miles are 3125 or under (parts and labor coverd)
3-unit under warranty between 3126-12500 miles (parts only)
4-On any spyder (GS,RS,RT) out of regular warranty=no coverage

Hope this helps , I am the service manager for a BRP dealer here in the Seattle area and I know there have been a lot of issues and questions from our Spyder customers. This site has been a great source for us as many issues that have come up I found here first. I will do my best to help you all out as best I can. Im limited on here with time so bare with me.

Thanks for taking the time..

I just got back from my dealer and they tell me BRP will give me brake pads under warranty but a charge to have then installed because noise is NOT a safety issue. I think BRP are counting pennies like they did to some of their other suppliers, like rear shocks and now brake pads, Did I miss anything?? :sour:

Tonga,
how many miles? on your CanAm and is it an RT?

2010-1/service bulletin/recommended maintenance (updated) rnr

didn'tsee it on the front page of the site.

It is strictly based on the mileage. See Service Bulletin 2010-7.

Canadian mileage here, 6500 klms or about 4000 miles on my RT

Ok, help me understand. Are they now saying we need to change both oil filters every 3,000 miles if we have a SE5 transmission?

More SB information

After sending my concerns and the list of Service Bulletins aquired from this site to my service center I recieved the following response.

I have read all of the bulletins you have highlighted, and a couple that you didn't. Here is what I have found out.
I did a service history on your bike and the only campaign that BRP has on it is warranty campaign 2010-6 which is an inspection to see if the antenna is installed properly, checking side panels to make sure their retaining grommets are in place, and inspecting and calibrating the rear suspension. The 2 fault codes mentioned are usually the result of the rider lightly pressing the rear brake pedal, creating enough pressure to make the brake light come on , but not pressurizing the master cylinder.
We can check your belt when it is in to make sure it has the proper tension. This is considered a routine maintenance procedure. They have simply changed to one spec that is the same for all models and is simpler to check.
We can also check the rear air suspension for leakage, but we have not seen one yet that has leaked.
According to service bulletin 2010-7, your Spyder should have the latest pads. That's easy enough to check when your unit is here.

So the service bulletins seem to be geared to a particular vin# and may not apply to all. Check with your service center and they in turn can check to see what SB applys to you.
If someone has heard anything to the contrary---Please let it be known.
Thanks C-YA RL

Ok, help me understand. Are they now saying we need to change both oil filters every 3,000 miles if we have a SE5 transmission?

I just got off the phone with BRP rep Stephany and after her looking through all the RT bulletins was unable to find anything that says to change both oil filters at each service. She said to continue to go by the manual which says to change the SE5 transmission oil filter every 12,000 miles or every 2-yr.

Does anyone have a hard copy of "2010-1/service bulletin/recommended maintenance (updated) rnr both oil filters every service" to prove her to be incorrect?
