• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT-622 Owners take note ... PUBLIC SERVICE NOTE

Someone should put a video up on how to do this for people like me that have never done it before.

I have heard that bearing buddies don't fit the RT 622.

I went to NAPA Auto Parts store and brought the trailer wheel hub assembly so that It could be measured and found a set that would fit. I have not put them on yet but I will post when I do
I bought genuine "Bearing Buddy " brand not a knock off. The Model # from Bearing Buddy is 1980. NAPA Part #821-2204
I also found USA made replacement wheel bearings that will fit.

OK, I figure I have 6k-8k miles on my 2010 RT622. I didn't realize the service need, so I'll get it done this spring, since I'll be putting on lots more miles next year.

I can't do it myself, and my brother isn't able to any more. Would this be something any tire store could do for me? Where do you suggest I take it to be done?

Any trailer service shop or tire store or Can Am Dealer should be able to do this for you.

I have a pair of bearing buddies that I am going install in the spring when trailer and spyder come out of winter storage.
I will still service bearings once a season. The bearing buddies will let me add bearing grease when on tours.

Reminder: Bearing Buddies do not get grease to the rear Bearing. You will also need a new extended dust cap. (hub cap)

:yikes: PUBLIC SERVICE NOTICE

Nice day out today so i decided to repack the bearings on my 2010 RT-622 Trailer,........................ Glad I did, when you take off the dust cover it looks pretty good, lots of grease and no moisture, but decided that i was gonna get it done anyway.

Outside Bearing had plenty of grease ..................... Good :D

Inside Bearing had a little grease ...............Not So Good

Total Repack = No More Concerns ..................Really Good ;)

When you check them don't rely on what you see when you pull the dust cover off ........................... Look further, it may make the difference on your next trip.

Cruzr Joe

? Joe? How many miles do you think you had on your trailer when you did the above?

Chris

After repacking my 2010 RT 622 trailer bearings I put just under 2200miles on trailer and when I checked the bearings when I got home from our trip the front and back bearings had lots of grease on them.
When I first got the trailer from the dealer after 500 mile trip checked the bearings and the front bearing had grease on it but back bearing was pretty well dry and water had gotten in as the grease was a milky color.

Is this how the "oil" threads started?

Joe makes one comment and now everyone's thinking how many miles they have on their trailer. Heck, I just bought a new 622 trailer in September and have less than 1500 miles on it and I'm thinking I need to check my bearings. Are we a bunch of worry warts?

Just my observation.

In my case I asked because I have a little over 5,000 miles. If I remember correctly it is recommended to have it done every 6,000. I was just curious as to how many Joe had on his.

No worry warts here but I can tell you from experience that my new dealer bought 2010 RT622 trailer . After one 900 mile weekend trip and checking the bearings I found, the wheel bearings needed to be serviced as there was little grease used when bearings were factory packed and the dust caps were not seated fully and water had gotten in and ruined the grease. The axle nuts were tightened so tight that the trailer wheels when off the ground would not spin free. I only checked them so soon after one short trip because of trailer bearing failure reported by members on this forum.
IMHO Repacking and checking trailer bearings is just smart maintenance and you should not have trouble down the road.

Also I feel its great to have this discussion as maybe some members will have the bearings serviced and checked to help prevent trailer problems when traveling.

This happened at about 250 miles when the bearing seized.
