• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RS Sadlebag options

Ive ordered the CL-950 bags and will give them a try.

With the factory Givi 35s you really have to get the color inserts? I'm on a Phantom so it's all black for me. Do they function without the inserts and just look silly?

You have to have to color panels, or the bags won't be waterproof...trust me I have played this game already.

You HAVE to have the inserts--- they hold the rear reflectors in and the bag would probably take on water without them in.

What have people used and what is your experience?

I'm looking for a decent set of sadlebags for my 09 Phantom Spyder. Hopefully even usable with a rider and backrest. I prefer something that does not need a rack of any type.

Feedback and advice is appreciated.

Hello qasamm,
Not sure which ones to choose but I can give one bit of advice. Try to buy from our sponsors here at Spyderlovers.com. A great bunch of sponsors with dependable products and good customer service. There are some horror stories out here from other companys you may find on the web. Just my 2 cents worth.

I use the Nelson-Rigg CL-950's and are very happy with them. Along with the BRP rear seat bag and the Nelson-Rigg tank bag, I got enuf junk to ride for days and days. Get home, and in a few minutes I got it all off and have my sporty roadster look again.

So I ordered the Nelson-Rigg CL-950 bags, was offered the CL-1000 for $25 off and jumped on the offer. When they were getting them ready to pack for shipping they noticed a tear in one of the bags. I ended up getting the CL-950s for the same price.

Great customer service but the situation was kind of a pain with the back and forth- still the best it could have been worked out. Seller was Extreme Supply.

I think you will be happy with those bags, at least I know we have been so far.

The good thing is the vendor saw the tear and did not ship you that set of bags. There are some that would have shipped them anyway, and then you would have had to deal with the situation when they arrived.

Hey Tripod.. Are those bags suited for 2 up riding???? I cant tell by the website if there will be enough room for a passenger.
Thanks....

CL-950 are working out nice but not usable when riding with passenger. They don't sit back far enough due to the rear signals. They sit just fine snug against them but cover the rider pegs. I can't see how a rider would work.

This was our set up going to Colorado. Cases on both sides from Overstock.com and straps made by my wife from Joann Fabrics. With the benefit of a gift card, the whole set up cost about $15.

Just couldn't bring myself to spend the bucks for all the different saddlebag options out there.

My passenger had no complaints and everything rode just great.

I'm considering the exact same setup actually. Difference is I'm going to try and get the Kewlmetal luggage rack. That would gie me the ability to put one strap under the seat and the other right over the luggage rack positioning them pretty darn far back. I'm thinking far enough back the passenger would have no problems putting their feet on the pegs. Yea, may have to find a workaround with the rear taillights right smack in the way but that luggage rack might just do the trick and keep the bags off the lights. It might just be doable.

I'll post pics as the toys start rolling in. :D

You should be able to force them back further by adjusting the straps under the seat. I know patches has posted on many threads about using them with his wife on the back without any problems. You just need to work with the placement some more. You may want to send him a PM about it, as he can probably give you some pointers.

Not so good for two up. Like someone said, the rear signals position them too far forward. And, I have a Corbin seat setup and the straps won't go under the rear seat, they have to go over it. So, I use a BRP rear seat bag for extra cargo.
