• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well this came at a perfect time! Going to be taking mine off soon for powder coating. So it looks to be 6 screws?

The 2 closest to the seat are 10mm-Easy.
The 2 near the grips are 8mm-Fairly easy.
The 2 in the center are 8mm and And U Know what%#*&^?:yikes:

Don't forget to stuff a towel all around the gap where the steering shaft comes out of the body, lest you lose those screws into the bowels of the beast.

Wow, glad I chimed in on this one. Thanks for the pointers. Arntufun, Looks like we have a few things in common for mods after seeing your post for winter mods.

Professor is dead on with the towel trick. It's amazing how them little buggers can find a way to hide! :banghead:

Also, when you reinstall the bolts, as they are recessed, place a small piece of paper towel or packing paper between the head of the bolt and the socket, then insert the bolt head into the socket. That serves to lighting secure the bolt into the socket and makes getting the bolt started into its threads, :D especially on the deep ones, much easier.

You beat me to it. I took my handle bars off today and had taken the same photo and recorded the screw head size. Last time I took it off was a real pain not knowing for sure what size the bolt heads were :gaah:.

I did the front rims last winter, they came out so good and match the bike perfect. The rest of that aweful silver is going and it will look amazing in black. :firstplace:

I do see from your Avatar that you have a better pipe than I do . I run the HMF which is a great sounding pipe, but there is no sound like a 2 brothers twin.

OK , iave taken out the six screws and the handlebar sems to be still tight? In the picture abore i see 8 screw holes, the two on outside and the ones on bottom no issues, but hte two that hold the platisc on hold were a plain, but they are off, Why wont the handle bar come off, Did i take the wrong two screws? How does the black ring around the key hole come off?:helpsmilie::helpsmilie:

1. The six bolts for the handle bar cover are for the bottom half (black lower plastic) Those six bolts only remove the lower half.

2. But before you remove top cover,
the ignition cover (Black ring as you put it) needs to be push down and rotated counter clockwise to remove that piece prior to removing top cover so do this right away.

3. Once you get the lower half off there are two more bolts to remove the top cover (silver to piece).

4. once you get the top cover off, you need to unhook the cables that go to the trunk and seat and there are two more bolts there to remove ignition.

ok I am down too the black ring on ignition? how to loosen it

I used a little screw driver to pull the tabs up (carefully) but if you can get a good grip on it, then it will turn counter clockwise. You have to have it loosened from the bars first or at least I did

If funny how I knew nothing a year ago and now I can help others !!! :roflblack::roflblack:

silver parts
