• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Riding with panels removed?

Is the Spyder designed/made with the ability to be ridden with some/many of the panels removed-like motorcycles have the engine and many components exposed?

Has anyone ridden there Spyder for a short trip of 50 miles or so with some of the panels removed?

It would be convenient to ride the Spyder with panels removed sometimes for service, check out of mods, etc.

Any and all thoughts are greatly appreciated.
 
I have no personal experience yet. I have seen pics on the forums with panels removed, esp. the rear fender and the trunk. I hope it is ok as that is my strategy for my 12 thousand service interval with the vavle check. I plan to strip her down and take her in with the panels off. Anything to save shop time. At $90/hr I don't want to pay them for such a mundane task as removal and replacement of panels. It is only about 20 miles to the dealership and there are no speed limits over 45mph. I have had them off many times and don't really see any reason that you couldn't ryde without them. Just MHO. Ryde Safe and Enjoy:thumbup:

Normally when I take mine in for service I will remove the engine cowels. The reason is when I pick it back up, I want to verify that everything is put back together correctly. When I did my 6000 mile service. they didn't put the fornt valve cover on correctly and it leaked oil everywhere. So for me its more of a piece of mind kinda thing.
