Revs but no speed increase - Transmission?

Hello all question does anyone know what this could be. I was out riding today all was good until I heard a big squealing noice then I went to accelerate and all it would do is rev up the RPM it would not pick up any speed. It would slowly pic up a little speed in each gear but would start to lose speed as you went along. It is a 2015 RTL semi automatic. Thanks

A front sprocket would be much better than the transmission

You haven't been running an oil that's not suitable for a wet clutch, have you Rookie?? :dontknow:

However, from what you describe, I'd guess at those symptoms being either due to a stripped or partially stripped drive belt; due to the splines on the front sprocket no longer engaging on the output shaft & so not providing much in the way of drive (lots of threads & info about that here, even some 'How to:' DIY Guides); or alternatively, the wet clutch has given up the ghost & no longer engages fully to provide much in the way of drive to that same sprocket....

The belt is a 'check both sprockets carefully & replace the belt job, not too hard even if a little fiddly; while the sprocket's not such a hard fix for anyone who knows which end of a spanner to hold on to; replacing/refurbishing the wet clutch is a little more complex & technical, but probably not beyond most 'home spanner spinners' capabilities, especially if you have a workshop manual to follow; and if it was actually the transmission itself, then it probably wouldn't let you select any gear let alone each gear &/or then pick up any speed at all - well, not without making a lot of unpleasant noises anyway! :shocked:
